Still playing Nike Vapor Combos?

Found a new set of VPC, never should have sold mine. I got the 718 AP2, but just could not get comfortable, so glad to have the VPC irons back in the bag. I will wear these out.

So here are my high level thoughts of round 1 on the sim. I will post more specific comparisons after my 2nd round tonight. I hit 7 thru PW comparing both sets. Head to head it was very close, length, dispersion, mishits; all too close to call. However towards the end as I was getting tired the Nikes were edging the iblades about 3-5 yards longer depending on the club. I clearly wanted anyone one of the sets to out perform the other but it was just not happening. Taking the Nikes to have the lie angles adjusted and then tonight I'll do a more deeper dive comparison leveraging the sim data more closely. I will say that I felt more confident hitting the iblades but I think its mainly because the lie angles match what I normally play.

Really wish I could take these both out on a course though.

I started the season with a set of VPC and Covert forged irons. I'm indifferent towards the CFs but I do love the VPCs. I was coming from the Cobra Amp Cell Pros and the VPCs look almost as good (I didn't MM proto them but I plan on doing it this winter) but they are super forgiving and feel just as good. My miss is towards the toe with my irons so the MM design really made me want to try them. I ended up getting them when NDC put clubs on clearance. I think I got them for $350 brand new. That was one of my better buying decisions. I really don't see me changing for a long time (that said I do want to pick up a set of MP 54s, you know, just to try).

I came from MP 54's in ctaper 130x. The VPC is easier to hit in the long irons but I also have a much more user friendly shaft in the AMT x100 as well.

anyone lose a little distance with the VPC? I know they've got pretty traditional lofts and shaft lengths stock, but as an already short hitter, I worry about having to hit long irons into every green.

I hit the VPCs the same distance as the VRS Forged and i15s I had previously.

Compared to my WS FG Tour V4's, they're about the same distance. Granted my FG's had DG Pros and my Vapor Pros have standard DG's so that may have a slight impact on distance. From what I found, what I lost in distance comparing Callaway Apex Pros and PSI's, I gained in accuracy and ability to work the ball a lot and mess with flights.

If you want to try to get a few more yards, you could try steelfiber or recoil shafts.

OP here: So things warmed up and I got a chance to hit the VPCs at the range. Damn!!! These irons are so good and accurate. All that is needed is a nice quite effortless swing with these; no need to over do it. Took a minute to get used to the forged feel as they are very soft / quiet, you barely feel them off the face.

@ BlackM00Nlight you are right the long irons are very easy to hit...still can't

believe I paid $250 CAD for them and they were brand new. SMH. Thanks everyone for contributing to this one.

I bought a set awhile ago mint with TI S400s, been sitting in my office since then but I think I will reshaft with modus 120x and put them in play

Wish I could find a brand new set

I was lucky to find a set on Ebay still in plastic. I jumped on that set.

I picked up some VP heads in 5-P and VPC long irons in 2, 3 and 4 (yes, 2i!) on BST and did the MM proto treatment. Going to shaft them with Nippon Pro modus 120S shafts.

It’s a shame that the season has ended. Can’t wait for spring to take these out for a spin. Might have to make trip or two down to warmer climes to play a few rounds over the winter.

Dallas Golf has new sets of vapor pros right now. A new one 3-P with TT AMT shafts available for 380 or so...

Combos or pros? I just bought some pros, I want another pair of pro combos

This discussion is looking me. I have been playing the vr_s forged since they came out and now I am looking at an mp18 combo set to replace them to have more nimble short irons. Now reading this I am re-thinking the mp18 since the short irons here look like they are able to create shots with. Anyone hit the mp18 and can compare to the VPC? It would save me a whole lot of money.

I really like that shaft. I play the stiff hard-stepped once in my Mizunos. That is an intriguing combo in the VPC. How did the MM proto turn out?

The Volt swoosh and Black PVD came out pretty easily. Have filled the swoosh with black paint once, but I did not do a very clean job. Going to clean up and redo this weekend. Will post pictures.
