Recent changes

 

was finally smart enough to put a SF 95s into my Srixy “driving iron 6 iron”

 

190 and straight … lead tape the toe to D7 and $$$$ … it’s a Christmas miracle in July

 

I have probably tried 20 (maybe more) clubs for this spot over the last 3 years … so I got that going for me

 

I recently also decided to toss some of the older bluey project X tour issue stuff in my fairway woods and it’s worked out nicely so far

Not much to report equipment wise

 

new Scotty GoLo 6.5 … with 35g weights … picked it up yesterday

 

still flip flopping btw 2016 GBB and g400’s and 8 shafts in two fairway wood lofts 

 

playability wise I’m down to my lowest cap since college golf … at 0.3 … (was almost a +1 thirty years ago)

 

i top 10’d in the Ontario Seniors which got me into the Canadians in a month, only benefit of recently being 55 as far as I can tell

 

Goal is to play British Senior Am next summer

You’re on, when I was there in 2012 we were in St Andrew’s for 10 days

 

My Aussie cousin, who I haven’t seen in 25 years, was just here in Canada.  She now lives in Dublin so that’s also on the trip agenda if the plan comes together

Go for it in the British AM---- You know Stush Big Bear and myself will be pulling for you. I did not realize I had you by 11 years though.

Recent developments

 

- put one of my sm2 Vokey 64.07’s back in the bag … with a black Halloween recoil 125 proto shaft.  Short game has some sorcery again.  The grind is so good in the grasses up here … and the traps

 

- Ping G430 max inbound.  Could not resist.  Have the Kai’Li white 60x coming in it and also have 430 tips on two of my other fav. shafts … A Ventus black 5x and a HZRDS green 70tx

 

I’ve hit my buddies 430 max a lot, he has it set flat and weight on the toe.  It goes so so straight AND one drive in 3 is other worldly long (reminds me of the goat ‘16 m2 tbh.  I’m talking places I’ve never seen before

 

Fwiw, the max feel is better than the lst and my fitter says the same 

 

Also, experimenting with a Japanese Craz-E center shaft putter black scheme vs blue

Max is the more draw biased head correct?

Have you ever tried a universal fitting sleeve like the all fit? Would make your tinkering a lot easier if you can mix and match adapters across shafts

Big change 

 

at the twin’s last night, putted horribly in our afternoon round earlier that day

 

tried a dozen or so putters he had and was dialled with an EvenRoll ER9 he had on his putting mat 

 

put it in play in a massive Tip & Tuck event today for it’s maiden 18 … made 6 crazy putts going last and we won by 2 .. $850 each

 

this putter rolls putts … right where I’m aiming

put an old g20 half hybrid 27* in the bag and it’s a unicorn, high and straight from 190.  Six iron benched.  Three eagle putts in one round inside 20 feet.

 

old school move of the week … Eye 2 + sand wedge and Eye 2 + no + lob wedge in the bag … so good off Bermuda fairways and rough and as is known, $$$ for greenside traps

 

the bag is a real dog’s breakfast now …. Just playing what puts up the best scores

The top end of my bag is similar to yours. 1, 3, & 5 wood with 5 & 6 hybrids. High lofted hybrids are so much better for me than long irons.

Leading member member gross by 5 strokes after day 1 .. 72 for me with 5 birdies, partner added 3 more 

 

crazily enough we had 4 more that defied physics to not drop

Today I’m picking up a Ping OG glide 60* from my fitter.  Was lucky enough to find a WS wide sole version on the bay in great shape and in orange dot. I am  thinking more bounce would be great off this grainy Bermuda fairway stuff down here
 

Setting her at 61* to try and move away from my 60 and 64 combo and open up a spot

 

also grabbed 2 new Mitsubishi Blueboard 80s+ hybrid shafts in X … and have thrown one in a OG Apex hybrid in 23* and will give her a run as well

 

trying to improve, has to be equipment solutions 🐵

I actually like the look of the G20 hybrids even though people think they look like a 👍, and think it would make for a confidence inspiring club.  Might pick one up in 20°.  And for some reason I love seeing a dog's breakfast of a bag especially of a plus player!

Day 2 in the books.  We won the member member by 4.  Highlite for me was a 174 yard par 3, into 15mph wind, elevated green with a fall off right and traps left …  high draw 6h to 7 feet.

 

I used to carry a g20 hybrid in 20* back in the day … it was great from 220 with a 100g matrix x in it … maybe I need big offset and wide soles for this evil Bermuda grass ... I do feel 85.  Uncle Cardy could have 3-4-5-6h in the bag soon

 

the other big win was the Blueboard 80x in the apex 23* .. oh mama. ..  it’s so good I think I’m throwing the second shaft in my 20* apex OG … and could ditch the 7wood

Interesting you like the G20 hybrids.  I thought the i25s would be more like the Apex hybrids.

 

On the Eye2 + SW and +no+ LW, do you feel they still perform (spin) as well as a new wedge (seems to be the case)?  I have an old Eye2+ LW (not +no+), but have always wondered whether the new faces are just as good (especially considering the condition of some of the old wedges; even if they are in good shape sometimes the face feels kind of slick).

 

I've never liked the + SW that much, the LW was always very good off of firm turf.

The thing for me with the 2 and 2+ is ease of use from traps … and spin from the ROUGH

This driver was an absolute cannon. Agreed newer drivers aren't necessarily longer, but definitely more forgiving on the misses.

Two more changes today

 

thank goodness it isn’t Jan 1st or @Dan Drake would be on me like a caffeinated highway patrol officer

 

1.  GBB ‘16 heavenwood … tossed a AD IZ 6x in it, fitter had a mint pull he let go for a hundo, as usual I could not resist 

 

The matching 5w, turned down to 17 is a cannon with the XC 6x in it.  And for whatever reason, the Callaways are better thru the turf than my g400’s when into the grain 

 

2.  Favourite store in Bonita Springs had a i210 7i in power spec for $39.  Grabbed it, flattened it, and tossed in my trusty SF 110s, I’m hoping it displaces the s55 seven iron

A few interesting things when I arrived back in Florida 
 

- I’m testing the new proto Bridgestone balls

- I told my buddy to grab me the mint m2 10.5 head at a store, but to have them flip the shaft to any x pull they had … they dropped in a ventus velocore blue 6x from another driver combo … total cost of $150 … crazy deal

- mint OG Ping Rapture 5w arrived, vista pro 80x …$49 … oh mama

Driver > back to 400 LST head from 400 max

 

fairways > changed my 5w to a 3w … and my 7w to a 5w, heads both at small + now vs. Previous Big - setting

 

left the tour issue PX shafts in back up heads and went full Fuji … have fully drank the Ventus kool-aid

 

black 5x in driver, red 6x in 3w and blue 6x in 5w, very solid with all 3 of these clubs yesterday (none are TR)

 

OCD matchy match me is thinking maybe I need to put the blueprints in play with the MCI 100’s @Fujikura Golf

That's pretty impressive. Black, Red, Blue. Can't say I've seen anybody successfully pull off one of each color. That Black 5x has had my attention for a while now. Too cowardly to give it a go.
