Tiger 7/14 fairways in the pro am, 12/18 greens, was windy. Thoughts?

2/6 with the driver. Kind of a problem.

The day he just hits 3 wood is the day he gets the low round of the field.

That's quite a stretch.

However, it seems like it may be the route to take, at least until he finds a solution to that part of his game.

His 3 wood isn't much more accurate though

I think Tiger should birdie the par 5's and the other 2 easiest holes on the course.

Everything else, play for par. If that means hitting an iron off the tee on a 430 yard par 4 and having 190 left in, so be it.

4 birdies and 1 bogey or no bogeys is a good round.

At least until he figures out the woods and driver

If you watched Riviera, you'd know that is not going to work. Maybe if he were dialed in with his irons then ok, but he's likely to miss at least a couple fairways with irons, and if he's hitting 200yd approaches into every green he's likely to make a couple bogies even from the middle of the fairway. Problem is a bad swing is a bad swing, and a bad swing that goes 310 is likely going to be better for you than a bad swing that goes 240.

No matter how Tiger is swinging in pro-ams or practice rounds, you can gurantee he'll be on that first tee on Thursday, pull driver and hit a pull into the trees. Almost a certainty every single time. The only variable in that outcome is it may go right into the trees, not left. Tourney pressure gets to him.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this but it sounds like you are putting Tiger in the top 25 of all time. I would think most would rank Tiger at least in the top 5 and maybe in the top 2 or 3 all time. Again maybe I'm misunderstanding the statement.

I think most would agree with your number. I just picked 25 so hardly anyone could really argue. I also "winked" when I suggested David as a coach. My real point is that it is difficult to understand why someone trying to make a comeback and OBVIOUSLY struggling would come to the conclusion that they would not need a swing coach. Sure, Tiger knows the game and he knows his game. But as Butch used to say, though he might not need taught the game he needed someone to tell him where his swing was. He seems to possibly be experiencing different outcomes when actually in competition vs playing outside of competition. Could a coach possibly help identify what in his swing may be different? I watched some video of Tiger the other day with Butch commenting about the short backswing, and how beautiful it was. The results were world class. I am not a fan of the man, but that swing was BEAUTIFUL as were the results. Unfortunate for his fans IMO, the "I am going it alone" path is yet a continuation of poor decisions from Tiger.

I don't know if he will make the cut, but I think this weeks field will keep him out of the top 20. To think he has a legitimate chance at Augusta...I just don't see it!

I am excited to see the field this week though. This should be a blast!!

Anyone who can help me find a livestream?

Isn't the PGA tour live app free for the first few hours? The monthly payment is so cheap though anyway (if you don't want to pay the full amount and save money year round)

Tiger barely misses fairway on 1, pretty good second and great chip for a kick in.

Good drive sneaks into the first cut on 2, pretty decent second shot. Makes the birdie putt!

Thank you, I'm watching the PGA tour livestream on Twitter and it's working very well.

BOOM birdie for Tiger on 11.

If Woods is struggling with the driver, why not hit a 3-wood off the tee? Henrik Stenson does that a lot, and he seems to do okay. So far Woods hasn't chosen any "easy" venues in his return to golf. Yes, it's cliche to say you have to keep the ball "in play", but some venues are much more forgiving with an errant tee shot than others.

TW got away with a par.

3W off the tee smoked!

He needs to do more of that. He is only 10 yards behind Kizzire's driver. AND IN THE FAIRWAY.

EDIT: Actually exactly 10 yards per shot link

Tiger with a nice par on 3.

Great 3 wood on hole 4, 290 to 300 so he has 94 to the pin. Really good wedge to maybe 3 or 5 feet (I'm guessing)

Tiger now tied for the lead!

I'm glad to see tiger hit 3-wood on hole 5. It's a little bit long at 467, so I'm sure he was wanting to go with driver. But he hit a 3 wood that ran out nicely, no need for driver with that shot right now.
