Cowboy Hat?

Last year my buddy brought me back a nice cowboy hat from his trip in Texas. I found that it works great for playing golf in the hot summers around here. Now, I'm a member of a CC (which can be a little more "selective" on attire). So, what do you think about cowboy hats on the course? Faux pas?

If I thought about wearing a cowboy hat it would always be on my mind that people are looking at it because it's sort of sticks out like a sore thumb. It would take away from the relaxation aspect of playing golf. You probably wouldn't look as bad as Rory Sabbatini though, but I still wouldn't wear it.

My father in law wears a big straw hat at his CC and owns the look.. not much different IMO. If you like it, and club dress code is okay with it, screw what everyone else thinks.

 

Be prepared for some strong opinions in this thread my friend :).

I too belong to a club and as a former board member, and while this particular style of hat never hit the agenda slate, and if someone wore one it would not be an apparel or wear violation as say, a hat worn backwards, worn inside the clubhouse or Men’s Card Room(19th hole) or cargo shorts would be, and while I do wear boots/cowboy boots and jeans casually, WhyTF would one wear a cowboy hat on a golf course, lmao???

 

I mean, it’s not as stupid lookin as a backwards hat, though in my mind, it’d run a clear cut second, lmao

 

I’ll ocasionally wear my Mizzy, Staff or Stones wide brimmed floppy hat though I’m normally a visor guy.

Back in the days when getting photos developed was still a thing and wayyyyyyy before camera phones.

 

 

The dude in blue/black hat on the chute gate, my old best friend and riding partner, he was not much of a rider so he became one heck of a good rodeo clown

 

Edit: not me getting trampled, I definitely had a few close calls and broken bone x2 including a shirt that still has a hoof print in it but this was not one of them
