Forgiving irons that are forged

At a 2, where are you specifically looking for forgiveness?

Actually I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw Ab’s Cap and then the “SWFPGA” which I take it stands for “South West Florida PGA,” so you’re either a Class A or going through the Apprentice program, so getting back to Jack’s question, one, what are ya Playing now, two, what specifically would ya like to see improvement in in your current irons, if anything and finally, as Jack asked, where exactly are ya looking for forgiveness?

What is your typical miss, both on the club and ball flight?

A lot of good recommendations in this thread and I’d just add that there are some great Adams forged Player’s MCB’s and CB’s out there, regardless of their age, if they’re in excellent condition, they’re a hell of an iron.

While Moot brought up a good point about most of these irons being Players’ MCB’s & CB’s, and while Ab’s Is obviously not a Tour Player, at a 2~ cap and either a Class A or an Apprentice, well, these are the irons that he should be looking at.

A 2~ shouldn’t need a shovel’s worth of forgiveness, lol?

Also, FWIW, Ab’s hasn’t posted in the thread since his OP on 07/11/2018??

Just sayin?

As always, just my .03 worth?

Oh, and Sweetie, I know my days with blades are most likely done, and those F5’s and the Mizzy 25’s are excellent irons, lol. It’s just I’ve been lookin at blades in my bag for 51+ years and even though I’m now lookin at em with one eye, they’re still much prettier than those damn MCB’s??.

Thank you? I love you

To the rest of ya....

Good call on the Diablo forged. However, as a previous poster said - it depends if you mean 1 piece forged or not.

Thank you Mike :) I meant and was speaking to a forged iron, period. Trust me, I know the theoretical differences between a 1-piece and multi/2-piece forged iron, lol?. Regarding a 1-piece forged iron versus a 2-piece forged iron, I do not think that a golfer that would play these irons could any more tell the difference between them if you provided them with blank identically designed & spec’d 1 & 2-piece irons to hit than Luke, Stacy and the Mizuno staffers could tell the difference between blank forged and cast irons(patterned after the MP-63’s & 68’s using the then new “hot metal” technology to be introduced in the 2011 JPX-800 cast irons). Not one single pro could consistently tell the difference. I understand the theoretical differences however it has been my experience in over 22+ years of teaching this game to men, women & children that theory very rarely consistently, accurately or successfully transfers to the range or the course, especially with mid and higher handicap golfers.

My point is that if the finest golfers on the face of this earth cannot tell the difference between an identically designed and spec’d cast & forged iron, and the #1 wedge on the PGA tour is a cast wedge, then I would like to see 10 mid-handicap golfers hit identically designed and spec’d blank 1-piece & 2-piece forged irons and consistently tell the difference ;) Hell, I’d like to see myself and nine of my fellow and lady pros do the same. Marketing is an amazing thing, hahaha. Your Miuras are a gorgeous iron! Take care Mike :)

I agree completely. Some people do still prefer a 1 piece forged head even though there is no practical reason to prefer one over the other, especially as it relates to feel. I wasn't sure what camp the OP was in.

The other thing to keep in mind is that many of these 2 piece forged heads seem to be lower spinning. I put the 900 forged, Apex, etc in that camp. So that could have been a consideration of the OP as well.

Thanks for the response, take care!

I like a set GW myself and that was the worst part about playing them. The Srixon 545 AW looked like it would match up the best imo.

Went through a fitting process 2-3 months ago. Came down to the Titleist AP3 or Cobra King Forged Tour, the Cobra irons felt just as buttery smooth but launch monitor results on the range made it clear that they were more forgiving for me. I don't regret the decision - love them.

cobra forged tec are great , they are a hybrid forged but feel great, i had the p790 and they are good as well buti prefered the p770 over them which is actually forged cavitys , all 3 are forgiving , i chose the cobras because i felt the black hid the offset more so they didnt look huge to me like the 790 did

I went the opposite way. I had the chrome Forged Tecs and went to P790. Maybe it was the C-taper lite shafts that didn’t work well with me. The offset looks minimal on both imo

J15 CB.

End thread.

No other player's CB can match it in feel, performance, workability, and most importantly forgiveness.
