Forgiving irons that are forged

If you go back to about 2012 or so, you could find the Nike VRS Forged, offered as 4i-AW.

 

 

Super pronounced cavity-back, really got the ball up well. Stock shaft was the Nippon HT, a lighter high-launch shaft. Note: It launched the short irons really high, so someone with decent swingspeed would want a mid-launch shaft.

 

Only caution... Any available used sets might be pretty beat up by now.

Another vote for Stenson Legacy Blacks. My Epon 302's and the SLB's are fighting it out for top spot in the bag at the moment. Impressive that despite these being older models they can still hold there own against the latest offerings.

Found some wilson fg tour m3 on the bay. I like the flight and feel better than the SGI I was playing before. Very forgiving, workable draw/fades, nice feel, great look.

 

I still need a round or two to make final judgments. . .

I’ve been pretty happy with my Wilson Staff C300 Forged so far. Surprising distance considering the long iron lofts are a fair bit weaker than, say, P790s.

I would say my JPX-900 forged are extremely forgiving, I have had some real bad toe shots that ended up playing just fine.

All these forged irons I’ve actually owned were very forgiving:

 

Nike Covert/VR S (most forgiving)

Maltby DBMs (best feeling)

Honma TW X (longest w/great feel)

seeing alot of mentions of ap2 as a forgiving forged iron...and they are, technically, forged but they dont feel anything like a forged iron.

I'm one of those folks that take exception to multi-piece irons that have one forged component being labeled as "Forged".  AP2/T100, Srixon 5, Apex, etc.  If it isn't a once-piece forging, it isn't "forged" IMO.

He has srixon ztx that are forged but have tungsten in some longer iron's soles.

They also feel and play like classic forged So not sure where the line is on this stuff...

Got to agree with this iron choice. Single piece of forged steel, milled back cavity. I played the older 560MC and it was very forgiving. Gaming the 575 MMC CB at the moment. Smaller head size, thin top line and amazing feel, but surprisingly forgiving.
