I have tremendous respect for Negreanu. I love that he plays cash and tournaments. I love that he plays mixed games, NLTs, Omaha, anything. He's distinctly not a specialist. I think what I find most impressive is that as poker has evolved he's never been the guy who fell behind. When the "internet kids" starting play he didn't say they sucked. He learned from them. As game theory has become a more important part of ultra high stakes tournaments he taught himself that.

(Fabb. Old man talk starting now) When I was 24 I started in sales. Everyone I sold to was way older than me. All my competition was was established. Having to hit numbers year after year is always a grind. But man those first couple years were particularly hard. So. I reached the conclusion that getting started in a career was the hardest part. It took me a couple years to realize that is WRONG. The last handful of years are so much harder. Most people's performance falls off. Most people have responsibilities taken from them. I mean it's natural right? Who isn't going to be worn down by years and years of work? I've just watched over and over an experience that has to be so humbling. Now. My observation is that people reach a certain point at work and in life and they think they have it all figured out. They stop learning new things. There is 0 creativity left. They become more strident in their opinions. Personally I want to be the opposite of that. I want to learn, challenge myself, test my opinions, grow humble. etc. (But definitely never ever stop carrying cash). I respect Negreanu because I think he is just like that.

Is anybody not expecting an injury announcement from Tiger at the end of this season?

_“I’m going to take a couple of weeks off and get ready for the playoffs,” Woods said at Royal Portrush. “We’ve got the playoffs coming up, and anything can happen. So get ready for those events, and after that then have a break.”_

People can reach a type of "stasis" without thinking "they have it all figured out".

I'm kind of at a point where I don't want to learn another computer language to keep up with the kids. I don't want to start ground level on a massive project. I want to ride my current projects into the sunset, maybe dip my fingers in a couple of pies, but not bake a pie.

I'm not saying, "wait 15 years 2More. You'll be there." Lots of people don't get like me. Many people stay engaged in their work for a long period of time. But, keep your mind open to the possibility that when you're 50, you take stock and go, "I've gotten as good at HVAC as a human could and I've made a bunch of money and despite what America told me as a kid, it still hasn't fulfilled me."

LOL I was just writing that I have zero respect for him. Actually, maybe I did when I/he was first starting out in poker - for the reasons you mentioned plus when poker was first starting to get on tv he was a great ambassador for the game. We're the same age and he won his first bracelet the year I was out in Vegas for the World Series, so that was....1999 maybe. But he's turned into almost a charicature of himself the last 8-10 years. Corporate shill for Pokerstars supporting a lot of anti-player policies. Pimping out his cult - OK maybe you want to argue its not a cult but most people would say its very cult like and during a couple of good tournament runs he made it clear that it was because of them. The blackface incident. Attacking people on Twitter who don't believe in veganism. I've lost all respect for the guy.

Now someone made a good point once that if Michael Jordan was active on Twitter back in the day, he would have said and done stuff that caused people to hate him too. Fine, I guess. Doesnt make me have to like him.

I was borderline expecting a retirement announcement - somewhere after he said he needed more time off. The guy has done nothing but take time off and now he needs more of it.

I figured City would take Webb, since he hadn't used him yet.

I had an inkling whoever that 2nd place person is would take Sneds.

My buddy and I talked about who we should pick yesterday, and decided to just go with Webb. We figured he was the favorite, played well last week, and would likely block City from picking any ground up on us. When my buddy went to fire the pick in, we realized we had already used him way earlier this year lol. What a couple dumb dumbs. We looked hard enough to realize City hadn't used him, but not hard enough to realize we had.

At that point we just threw Casey in there. I felt decent about Webb over Sneds, but not the other way around, so we didn't want to throw Sneds. It could be a wild last couple weeks of the pool. If somehow Horsehole wins, and Sneds/Webb/Casey all dook themselves, it'll get even wilder.

If you still had Webb, I wasn't taking him. Matter of fact, I looked at your picks a couple times and didn't notice that you had. I think that both of you had used Hideki, too, so that was an option for me. Also looking at Morikawa, Kodaira, a couple others.

I am realistically looking at pulling the plug in 3 years. Probably stay in the area since the kids are here and hopefully, there will a grandbaby by then.

I just turned 59, so I guess I am behind

He committed to the first two Fedex cup events so perhaps he feels better. I’ll be interested if he selects himself for the President’s cup or he’ll rest up for the Masters.

Leave something to the imagination, Greg.

There's a funny edit as the third girl in is arranging herself. I wonder if they had to bring in the key grip to jam her in there or something?

Yeah. Me too. Was it something "marginal"?

I wrote something about that Thunderbear case that had a far away reference to a dirty word.
