Was it a ball from a bag you use specifically for practice, and at the simulator? After repeated shots into a net/screen, especially if you hit drivers, you'll start cracking balls eventually. 2MT used to crack a ton of golf balls hitting in his old garage.

Nope, it was a new one that I literally pulled out of the sleeve on Monday when I played a few holes. No more than...20-25 shots on it. Again it doesnt really strike me as something to take seriously - its not going to stop me in any way from playing the Chromsofts - just a fluke thing IMO.

Tex, I have no complaints about the Peloton on demand stuff - the running or the biking. I lost 13 pounds pretty quickly after Christmas and after gaining a few back have settled in around a 9 pound loss from where I was most of the Fall which was alarmingly out of cardio shape. When did I play at Hivemore, maybe that was even back into August bc I remember it being hot and Eagle getting yelled at that a corner of my shirt came untucked...but it was a brutal walk for me. So its certainly made a difference in the amount I can play/practice without getting completely winded.

I dont know if being in better cardio shape contributes to your swingspeed or not but I can tell you I never came close to touching 110 last year. Or ever in any years. Last winter on the Trackman I was consistently in the 104-106 range, yesterday was 106-108. Whatever, its one day, I'm not going to read anything into it just yet.

I'm waiting on my Trues to come in. Think they're set for the 10th. I bought a pair of the older FJ Pro SLs and they hurt my feet event when I was using a cart so I'm definitely looking forward to trying the Trues out.

4h came in yesterday, didn't realize that it's not adjustable when I ordered it but it looks good so we'll see how it goes. Now I have to find a headcover for it

I'm hoping to raid Doms putter stash next weekend in hopes that it helps me putt like he does. I've gotten rid of every spare club that I had laying around the house and it will fund a putter purchase quite nicely

Sterling, I've never met a guy who is as good at golf as you who doubts his abilities and equipment as much as you do.

If you had MY mindset, you'd be on the Korn Ferry tour. At WORST. Sheeeee....I feel like once I get my 4 iron off the tee sorted out, that's pretty much the last piece between me and qualifying for the US Open this year.

You're the guy who made a quad on hole 1 in the CC, and then shot 74, the same as everyone else. You pick the right club on your approach on hole one and you would have shot like a +6 differential in TOUGH conditions.

I normally REALLY don't like the Barstool Sports guys, but I saw that Brandel was on their latest pod cast talking about the insanity of Jordan Spieth, and other things, so I listened to it.

It was literally the first time I'd ever listened to their pod. . .Fore Play pod.

Anyway, it was good. I like Brandel. I don't always think he's right, but he doesn't seem constrained by a desire to say the right things, or be overly cautious about offending people. He was good. It bothers him when people say, "I'm going golfing" instead of "I'm going to play golf". Elitist take.

I've logged a whopping one round with Sterling, but I've seen enough to know the dude has MAD GAME. He can pound it off the tee. He hits crispy clean irons. He scrambles. He holes putts. If the 59 at the red tees doesn't get ones rocks off, consider that the man TORCHED the back 9 at Worthington that day, in very difficult conditions. Being able to summon that kind of firepower is a huge indicator of the kind of potential he's got.

City, can't say that I disagree with you there. It honestly comes and goes for me. The front 9 of the CC I was anything but confident (probably because of the airmail quad) but about midway through the back 9 the switch flipped. I've never really been able to figure out how to do it on demand though which is why I work a desk job

My interest in messing around with equipment comes from just playing whatever I could get my hands on growing up (lack of funds) so I would really like to know if getting fit would positively impact my game. Never had the finances to do it till now so that will likely happen at some point soon. I know its not the end all be all to playing good golf but it just kind of feels like I'm leaving some unused potential out there because I haven't done it

Historically, I haven't been a very good putter. It was pretty much my Achilles during college. I've gotten drastically better over the last year mainly due to a change in mindset rather than a change in putters, but I'm still working to lock that in

No one asked my thoughts on Sterling's short game, so of course I'll insert myself anyway.

Sterling, change is the spice of life! There's SOOOOO many good putters and shafts and whatnot available now! You can't just limit yourself like this to one length, putter head, shaft weight, etc! Try them all! And I'll tell you what- Every 9 holes during the Skins game at the Cradle counts as a new round! Tell ya what, you go ahead and use one of Dom's putters that nine- anyone you want! Then on that second nine, I've got a Bottelli Heavy Putter you can use! Then if we have time, I've also got an old Bullseye putter for the third round can experiment with!

And, remember, some of the best putters on earth put Left Hand low. You should try it! And some guys even chip left hand low! There was a guy on Big Break who did that, and he didn't even get kicked off till the third episode!

In summary, it sounds like you've got a long way to go- even City thinks you should be on the Korn Ferry tour and you're having to work a desk job. Time to switch it up, and that time is coming up at The Cradle!

I was on a flight in to Dulles this morning and 30 min out we hit about as bad of turbulence as you ever get on a commercial flight. Everyone grabbing the seat in front and some people gasping and oh-lording. Must have been the heavy part of this front.

A blind person could tell Sterling hits better irons than any of us. Seriously at Laurel Hill I realized you can just listen to him hit irons and know he is hitting it better than anyone.
