@FAbb that spec looks ideal for the 5w, any longer than 42 and you might have gapping issues.
I'd thought about going 3w-5w for a while but I always end up with a single wood in the 16.5-18 degree range. I'm at 13 clubs but through the year I'll probably alternate between 4 iron and 62 degree.

Definitely didn't need it. Wanted it. Slightly smaller heel to toe length/slightly larger width head than my Odyssey. Carpet roll is pretty sweet so far.

Need to hit 1000 putts with it pre-PHManorMuppets2020 trip at the end of the month.

Re: TS Ep2: In their defense, I think they are trying to keep the eps between 20 and 30 mins. Makes it next to impossible to provide any context, especially hen they have 2 groups. Doesn't bother me at all. I really don't care where they stand in their match. I just want to see the courses, get a bit of the experience and see some shots.

This was my favorite episode by far. I am a huge fan of the Ocean Course and as some of you know I got married on the lawn next to the clubhouse. I think the course itself is fun AF to play, especially if you play from the right tees. There are some spectacular holes out there but again - at the right tees - you can miss in the right spots and still have a next shot. I love the greens out there, as they mentioned, they are not tricked out at all, they roll true and they have even the most subtle changes. Its challenging but also fun at the same time.

But the two of them playing the tournament tees on the OC in the wind was just dumb and IMO didnt really make for that great a production. What are you trying to prove, that the course is really long from 7500 yards in the wind? No kidding? Watching guys play really bad golf from a really hard tee box that they admitted they had no business being on - that didn't come across as "fun" to me. Meanwhile the guys who played the 6400 yard tees seemed to have a much better match. I think it would have helped them to have some overhead shots or graphics that show just how far back the tournament tees are on a couple holes but I think they only even mentioned it once.

I think because of the tee boxes he played Neil's attitude sucked during 95% of it and IMO brought the entire thing down a bit. He's the temper tantrum guy out on the course who just frumps his way between shots and is absolutely no fun to be around when he's not playing well. I couldn't even root for him or be happy when he picked it up the last few holes.

Logistically when they say the course is "$500", that was pretty misleading. First I think the highest it goes in season is $450 and I think hardly anyone pays that - plus that includes your caddie fee. But usually the greens fee is rolled into packages or deals. From Nov to March they always run a deal where for $300 a night you get a night in a condo and a round on the OC. So to list the stock rack rate in this case I think is pretty misleading because during most months of the year even the stock rate is well below $400.

Anyway, great episode IMO, cant wait for the Pinehurst stuff.

I just watched the episode. It was kinda mehhh. The course looked cool from what I saw, but I don't feel like it was presented as a whole. Felt like a snippet here and a snippet there

I'm not looking forward to the mini-golf because I tend to watch the videos for the courses rather than the guys themselves.

One thing of note is that Big Randy's putting makes me very uncomfortable just watching it. I feel like I need to erase it from my mind before I pick up my putter again.

On a totally unrelated matter, my statement about not changing clubs isn't going to last long. The 4h should arrive in a couple days and I've got a seller lined up for my gamer Scotty. I'm going to go back to the dual balanced Scotty I used for awhile last season. Seems like I make more consistent contact with it and it actually feels good with the left hand low grip. Also may be in new irons by the fall

It looks like I may get the opportunity to run the "on-site" portion of the NextGen golf tournaments this year (I played in a few last year). I'm expecting a call today. Basically, the PGA of America guys would handle all of the logistics and I would be there the day of the event to check guys in, pass out cards, and run the skins game (minimal effort required). They're offering several perks: free entry into in the tournament (usually around $100), possible discount for my partner (hopefully one of y'all), Cleveland wedge set, Srixon clubs (Driver, 3 wood, or discount on irons), rangefinder, and a discount for the championship at Kiawah this fall (which is interesting since we've been talking about it). First event of the year is at Hivemore in April

The Maryland Open is at Woodmore this year, too. I hope they get their conditions ready for this year. Good course, but you can't be chipping out of cabbage when you're in the fringe in the Open.

I have a set of the F7 One length that I was going to sell to GMen at some point last year (dunno if he still wants them). I actually also have a set of the Forged F7s if you want to buy those. I've taken my talents to the AP3s now.

Our Super re-sodded many of the fringes that had the caligua (sp?) weed growing last november and we've had a mild winter to date. I'm expecting better things this year. Played 5 holes on Tuesday and we actually were off paths and the greens were rolling pretty good... of course now we're getting 2" of rain over the next 2 days. Gotta keep reminding myself that it's February.

For me, it meant that I couldn't elevate the shorter 5-iron the same way as a longer 5-iron. Distance was close enough to equivalent, but traj was really low for me. For slower swing speeds that already suffer from low flight, it could be an issue.

You swing faster as clubs get longer

You swing the same speed on every club it could be an issue with launch, spin, etc

Or your consistency to hit the center of face improves and they fly like the number or loft listed on the bottom of your club

Only way to know is to find out

I'm finally giving single lengths a good run this year. Picked up a stock set of F9 one lengths off the 'bay. They came in a couple of weeks ago but I haven't hit them yet. I hope I get along with them better than my short lived F7 one length experiment.

Had a chance to get a couple of simulator hours in last night to not only test some drivers but also just work on my wedges a little bit. About an hour into it, I had a Chromesoft crack right in half on me. Never had that happened before. Tex asked me if I leave my bag in the trunk at night or anything like that - nope, the ball just cracked. I guess when you produce millions of them, its bound to happen. Wont stop me from playing it but its the first time I've ever seen it.

Also going to be ordering a second pair of Trues as well. I usually have a pretty hard time find a pair of walkers that I really like that much but these things are just that comfortable. Way more comfortable than the FootJoys I got, maybe in part because of the nice wide toe box on the Trues, I dont know. Man its frustrating trying to by new shoes sometimes, I hate trying on a shoe in the shop and thinking its really comfy then after a couple of rounds in it you realize its the complete opposite and there is no way you could wear it again. Props to Dom again for the True discount.
