What's a course that you consider more wide open than Worthington? I don't mean like St. Andrews.

One of the things about Worthington. . .There's almost always a bail out. I'm not saying there's NO trouble out there, but I've seen pars from the left of the left fairway bunker on 1, and right of the right bunker. That's 90 yards.

Sure, it's not going to be an easy par if you bail out right on 3, but you're not losing a ball. Sometime the bail out is long. . .like on 7. It might be 210 to cover a bunker, but it's 275 into the hay on the same line.

That's opposed to NW, where on holes 5 and 7, you need to hit a driver and you have 35 yards treeline to treeline. On the 3rd hole at Worthington, you have 35 yards of fairway, another 20 yards of rough left, and infinity to the right.

Also often at WM, they give you a wide spot that's a little short of where you want to hit it. That's not something you get everywhere. 5 for instance or 11, 4, 12.

I will say this. . .there's not much room to miss on the par 3's.

I don't know. I've played the course a ton (used to be in league there) so maybe I'm just comfortable with it. I've had my lowest round ever there (from whites) and one of my best rounds ever (from Blacks) and I just feel like I can get there and swing away. The greens are what get ya.

Every hole on WM (or hardly any course for that matter) is not wide open. I don't think 3 is wide open. Fairway might be 35 yards wide but in any semblance of dry conditions, it plays like it's half that with how it slopes.

3 is way too tricked up in my opinion. 12 is close as well for similar reasons.

But those are only 2 holes. For a really good golf course, there is lot of room to spray it and still be able to recover.

WM is very roomy off the tee, in my opinion.

The rules sound fine but that scorecard is atrocious. You've got to put "Hole" in the left column and just the numbers after that instead of the awkward:

Is anyone else watching the McMilions documentary on HBO thats on now - they are 2 episodes in out of 6? Its genius so far IMO, really good.

Speaking of genius, Burke Lake installed heaters in their golf ball bins. I dont know how this works, I cant say as if I've ever even seen such a thing but it is a great addition to an already fantastic range.

Speaking of documentaries we watched the Taylor Swift documentary on Netflix last night. If you've seen the Lady Gaga one they did its a pretty similar style. Really, really good. I'm not a fan of her newer poppy stuff so that part is not my kind of music but its pretty cool watching some of her songwriting sessions when she and a producer are trying to come up with some of the songs and then they cut to a shot of her playing it in front of 50,000 people. Knew almost nothing about her but it was excellent.

Two things :

1) DC, yes, I'm watching McMilions. It's good. The main FBI guy they talk to is hilarious.

2) HBD : I don't know, but the field is sick and I love that course, and I'm totally psyched for this event. Rory, Tiger, Rahm, Bruce, JT, Cantlay, Xander, Finau, Rosie, DJ, etc etc. It's a majors field.

He was missing putts on Sunday that normally he drops. I'm not concerned, though. He had a good showing.

I think Riv is one of the courses where the percentages from every distance are the lowest. Tricky greens and they get bad po late in the day.

Drinking game to the death : take a shot every time you hear "kikuya" this weekend. No idea how to spell that.

Did anyone watch the NLU Tourist Sauce episode last night? I saw it pop up on YT but it wasn't the upload, I guess it was the live premiere. I couldnt do more than five minutes of it. 100% shtick, 0% actual golf. I dont know how long you can make a mini golf episode but apparently it was pretty long. Nope.

I was skeptical of the NLU episode but it was really well done and it's been the best one of the current season. DJ Pie is crushing the producer game.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I like seeing golf played on the courses and I want to get a feel for the overall experience of being wherever it happens to be. Couldn't care any less about forced content, just let the place attract people based on the golf experience that's offered. Is that too much to ask?

I don't know man, they are putting out content to be entertaining. They are showing their personalities some. I also enjoy the golf courses they play and want to see shots they hit, which is mostly what I enjoy out of them. This week just wasn't that. I think even DJ has mentioned on podcasts/twitter/NLU Refuge that this one was sort of a pet project of his. I didn't think it was anymore "schticky" than normal. It was just transferred to the putt putt course. I really was going to skip the episode and barely got through their site-seeing tour in the beginning, but once they started playing their little tournament, it was really funny and edited well. I'm not a blind defender of their content, but this week was a pleasant surprise. There was drama, WD’s, black cats, lip outs, equipment changes, rules officials, lost greens, and stymies on a firm and fast course lol. I know their content is not for everybody, but those are some of the reasons I enjoyed it.

Couldn't agree more.

I think I would have been on board with the episode if it was one round on the mini golf course as part of a larger episode. But it seemed that it was going to be multiple rounds on the same mini golf course with a lot of forced hilarity IE shtick? Nah, I'm good.

Like I said, I really like the other stuff so far this season but this one was definitely not for me.

it's bro culture that thinks its better than bro culture. I do watch some of their vids, but i'll probably stop soon since they've focused more on their persona than showing off really cool golf courses. I was looking forward to the carolina swing because I like seeing courses that i've played before, but now not so much.
