Salisbury got hammered last night. Over 7" of rain in 3.5 hours. Lost several roads/bridges, trees down everywhere, courses shut down. Sheesh.

 

Luckily we are going to Lighthouse tomorrow. Looking forward to a round that won't involve 80+ degrees or humidity.

Yeah Tyndall got wiped out it looks like. The video of the overflight of the base is *crazy* - hangars and stuff just wiped out. Looks like a few F-22s that were there were damaged too.

 

I was surprised how bad it was when it got to Virginia, I think last count was 600,000 people in VA without power? Thats insane for the remnants of a storm - we dont even get numbers like that in bad snow or ice storms.

That is crazy power outage numbers. I know our office in VA Beach (state government) was closed today due to no power.

 

Weather is primo today. We got to test our new roof out yesterday with all that rain. Luckily we have no leaks!

They made it seem like they arent sure if they will rebuild or just move entirely. Im sure theyll rebuild the flightline, but they do other stuff there that could be done elsewhere.

100% would of gone to woodmont. I was very confused why the time of the redskins game would of mattered but now it makes sense.

Woodmore isn't absurd expensive so it probably won't have the same conditions but lots of people LOVE the course itself.

Maybe time to work Woodlands back into rota. Really good time out there today with hoop and domes. They got us off right when we got there and without so much as a warm up swing or putt and we all proceeded to pipe one down the gut and all had inside 15 feet for bird.

 

Greens are so much fun to putt. Ridges and drops and infinity edges. Course was in good shape.

 

Hoop went b3b on 8/9/10. Dropped a BOMB on 8. Hit a wedge to a foot on 9. Then sunk a 10 footer on 10 for a 2 hole carryover, birdie, greenie.

 

Weather was drizzly to start, then sun came out, then it got rainy and windy, then wind and sun. Layers were on and off all day. I was wearing a towel shawl for a hole.

 

You don't always know if someone will like that course because of all the weird, blind holes but hoop and domes both dug it.

 

Whatever hoop posts for a score is actually 2 more than the number of times he actually contacted the ball. Lol.

 

I Regripped everything when I got home today.

I had a fantastic day at Gunpowder. Never made it on the big course. Paid $5 to hit up the Chip n putt, which was more like the Chip n Chip n Chip, but who TF cares. I wasn’t there to work on my putting. I played Friday’s am with DT15 when he was back in town and I SUCKED. Needed to change my mentality before the MD Cup Final.

 

I tried to figure out the driver yesterday and ran into M.Reynolds who gave me some encouragement. Went to Gunpowder today and saw that they have added an official “Bye” hole after 18. I hit 40 balls off that tee with different clubs figuring stuff out. Results were promising. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

 

No idea how I am going to fall asleep tonight.

Glad to hear the course was in great shape City. Haven’t been over there since the spring. Love the course and all the quirks. Love to have a hive event there, maybe 36 and bring in diamond ridge.

 

Yea, Cup cutting was so much fun there for the five summers I did it, love to see how creative people could get on the greens.

I've only played Woodlands once. It was a fun course. Would definitely bang again. I don't tend to think about it, but it's really about the same distance from home as Waverly is. The only time I played there was with eagle, stix, and maybe goose? We asked to play through a group after 9 holes taking over 2.5 hours with nobody in front of them, they said yes, then stood basically on the green as we hit our shots. They kept playing the hole. Then they threatened that we better skip a hole because they're gonna be waiting on us now. We said no, and very quickly left them in the dust.

 

 

I don't care about Diamond Ridge at all. The only good thing to come out of playing that course was the fleshlight tee story.

 

#TeamShubhankar here as well. Of all the players in contention, I'd like to see him get the dub.

That was the most awkward play-thru ever, save one. We essentially hit into the par three while they stared us down. I think we yelled “Fore!” while two of our four tee shots were in the air and could possibly Brain one of them. To this day I have no idea what was going on in their heads (or ours for hitting, frankly). Flabbergasting.

 

Denouement: the ranger came up to us 4 holes later and asked if we played thru a few holes ago. I said yes. He said, “Good.”

 

There was a 2.5 Hole separation between us since passing them and he was gonna ride their a55 the whole way in because the whole course was backed up behind them.

 

Would have been almost a 6 hr round if we didn’t forceplay our way thru.

 

The first most awkward play thru happened recently when Boogs and I almost had to throw down at Needwood against a Fourball. Not exaggerating. But I’ll let Boogie tell that epic tale.

I've never even been to Maryland Live! and it's not too far from me.

 

I've never even been to the Horseshoe, but I keep thinking I want to go there and eat a Guy Fieri's just out of self-loathing. The Yelp! reviews are dreadful. This guy says his french fry bounced off the ketchup.

 

"I think the grossest thing here was when I went to dip my french fry in ketchup, the fry bounced back at me. The ketchup had been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long and had essentially turned into jelly! It was really freaking nasty! Fries are fun because they do a mixed basket of different fry styles, but this ketchup sitch had me all kinds of grossed out. Like, we were there at 5pm, no one was there...how long beforehand did you need to prefill the ketchup cups?"

 

The casino is in a part of town that is just warehouses, parking lots, and gas stations. It doesn't open onto the street, which is probably a good idea. There are outdoor slot machines there. I suppose for people who want to smoke and play slots. Every time I've ever driven by, it looks completely deserted. But, I don't really recall driving by on a Friday or Saturday night so maybe it gets hopping. It just seems totally depressing to me.

 

But, I don't even gamble anymore. Got that out of my system before casinos started opening up everywhere.

I had to run out to WV last week so I stopped by Charles Town to get a look at their sportsbook. Looks like a temporary setup to me but it wasnt bad. Nice to only pay $4 for valet parking too. I'm glad I could bill my tolls because it makes that drive for me from Alexandria almost tolerable.

I scooped a brand new in plastic M1 driver off ebay for $160 last week and of course it got delivered while I was playing Worthington on Saturday. I'm anxious to get some hacks in with it this week.

 

Maryland needs to get their S together and get on the sports betting train.

For whatever reason, City talking about food reminded me about the 7s pre-meal. Had to look it up, but last year a few of us went to Tubbys and Ill do the same again this year. Good breakfast food, and the right atmosphere for the 7s.
