2019 predictions

Probably much too early and way too ambitious but it's the off season and we need something to chat about. I'm wondering what your predictions are for the 2019 season?

The format I'll use but everyone can do there's however..

The Players: Tony Finua

Masters: Jordan Spieth

PGA: Xander Schauffele

US Open: Tiger Woods

The Open: Rory Mcilroy

FedEx Cup top three

1. Xander Schauffele

2. Brooks Koepka

3. Justin Thomas

Players to reach #1 this season

Brooks Koepka

Justin Rose

I think Xander will have a huge coming out party this year and reach the top 5 as well as a bit of resurgence from Jordan and Rory this year. Brooks to stay #1 almost all year.

That's quite the prediction to say Justin Rose will reach #1 in 2019. Really going out on a limb there.

we will revisit his post to see if the twig snapped. I see Cameron Smith winning a Major.

Best storylines:

Masters = McIlroy

PGA = Spieth

US Open = Mickelson

The Open = McIlroy or Woods (not sure if Rory winning at home or Tiger getting #15 would be better).

I would love to see Phil win the U.S. Open. But to do so, I think he needs to a) start his season in May and b) go buy a Ping G400 Max driver (10.5*, lofted up) to get the ball in play more.

  • 3 weeks later...

JT, Dechambeau and Rose will consistently make top 10´s, and I'll be surprised if not one of them cashes in a Major.

Tiger will continue to do good if he stays healthy. A major is not impossible.

DJ, Spieth, Day, Rahm and Rory are impossible to see where they go. Form has been so-so in 2018. I wouldnt bet on a major for them as things are at the moment.

Molinari to maintain that sudden form peak? I guess so. He found something.

And then there will be a bunch of players who will peak this year, but I cannot really see who it will be.

What i HOPE for:

Rory back in form. Tiger staying healthy.

At least some win for one of my fellow countrymen on PGA or European. Things have not gone in the right direction. With Stenson getting old and grey there is only Noren left. Kinhult is the only light in the dark.

Players: Stenson

Masters: Rose

PGA: Koepka

US Open: Norén

British Open: Hatton

I wish...

You know I only put Koepka in there not to be too pro-Europe, right? ;-)

But I honestly don’t think it’s too much of a long shot. Particularly Hatton winning the open. I really believe he’s going to do it sooner or later. He’s so good at links golf.

DJ to go on another pre-Masters-slip tear.

Rory puts it all together for 2+ wins.

Tiger gets 2 wins. One of them is US Open.

Spieth tumbles out of top 30.

JT wins Masters.

Hideki comes back strong.

Bryson wins a major.

The year of the superstars.

Nice. A US Open for TW would be one for the ages. Hopeful but that's a tall order.

If TW has a shot at the PGA Champ going into Sunday, I head over to Bethpage. Look for me, I be like

Didn't Alexander Bjork have a good 2018?

My prediction for 2019...I will buy at least 3 new golf clubs. Ironically....I'm well on my way as I've already purchased a putter and a new shaft for a soon to be Ping G400 Max (I don't own the head yet).

OH...golf....

Masters - TW

US Open - DJ

Open Championship - Rose

PGA - Bryson

Misc:

Reed will yell at camera crews simply because they are there to record his swing and also argue with rules officials because he doesn't understand the new rules changes and insinuate it's all a conspiracy against him...Oh and he will irritate other PGA tour members with his social media postings.

Someone will make an AK sighting and all Americans with some connection to Korean heritage will be frothing at the mouth.

Rose will play poorly in a tournament and everyone will blame his equipment change....until he wins a tournament shortly after.

CHIII will continue to be on leaderboards, but not win while touting his enjoyment of life in his big house.

Thinking Sam Horsfield may notch a win on the European Tour, long shot but, maybe!

I'd normally agree 100% but not sure where he's at with that freezing over the ball issue he was having in Turkey towards the end of last season. He's definitely trending in that direction but its difficult to know. He finished middle of the pack last week in Abu Dhabi.
