2019 predictions

I take the field on everyone else's predictions.

if Tiger gets a major in 2019 it will be the masters. i know he routed everyone at pebble 20 years ago but he hates that course i don't see him fairing all that well there. The PGA is at bethpage, and again he won there almost over a decade ago. there is too much power out there now and i dont think he will is accurate enough off the tee for that course. plus if the ryder cup or hero world championship is any indicator. he could have a long rough year.

a better prediction for Tiger is that he has at least two questionable on course rulings this year. That has higher odds than a major win in my opinion.

I predict their will be more calls for rules officials this year than any year ever. From all of the players.

Probably much too early and way too ambitious but it's the off season and we need something to chat about. I'm wondering what your predictions are for the 2019 season?

The format I'll use but everyone can do there's however..

The Players: Tony Finua

Masters: Jordan Spieth

PGA: Xander Schauffele

US Open: Tiger Woods

The Open: Rory Mcilroy

FedEx Cup top three

1. Xander Schauffele

2. Brooks Koepka

3. Justin Thomas

Players to reach #1 this season

Brooks Koepka

Justin Rose

I think Xander will have a huge coming out party this year and reach the top 5 as well as a bit of resurgence from Jordan and Rory this year. Brooks to stay #1 almost all year.

Schauffele may sneak a major win. He has had solid results in a majors in his young career.

Good call.

^^ I'd love to see Rory win The Open in N Ireland but I just can't see it happening unless he's already completed the career slam earlier in the year.

I think he'll have a very good year though, I have no idea when and where he'll win.

This is always hard to do at the start of the year because the nature of golf is that form can change so quickly. But here it goes:

Masters: Justin Thomas

PGA: Jason Day

US Open: Dustin Johnson

Open: Jordan Spieth

Rory won't win the Open in Portrush. He's missed his last 3 cuts at Irish Open on links courses in Northern Ireland and struggled to play in front of locals. Can't see him dealing with the pressure of a major in front of them. Rory's best chance would be the PGA at Bethpage, ballstriking would come to the fore if he gets his game back to top form. Masters is best fit but too many mental scars.

Bryson wins player of the year

Rory and Day miss at least one major due to injury.

DJ misses some time due to mysterious circumstances.

There is a rules fiasco as the US Open.

Weather causes a rain-out at the British Open.

One of the top 20 guys retires saying he's had enough of the travel and grind and wants to spend time with his family and live a "normal" life.

Dechambeau wins the Masters by draining extremely fast downhill putt on the 72nd hole by leaving the flag in. The explanation of why he did it in the post tournament interview becomes the most important scientific discovery of all time.

he can get a bit wordy but is really boils down to density and Mars being in retrograde.

Fleetwood is going to win some big tournaments this year. Finau and Schauffele are going to move the needle a lot. Casey is going to have an explosive year (his mind/head just seems like everything is coming together). If Jordan does not start out well, he a Greller will take a brake. Molinari is going to just keep on with his winning ways. Rahm will have at least 18 meltdowns in one tournament. Sergio will still act like he is gods gift to the golfing world. Please let Phil win the one major so the news networks can stop talking about it. Tiger will win more. I would love to see CH3 win some more. Everyone will keep talking about Champ being amazing (he is).

But most of all Brandel will keep talking $h#t and not shut up!!!!!

Tournaments in which Tiger is not entered receive extremely low TV ratings and are largely irrelevant.

I didn't even realise that there were tournaments that Tiger didn't play in. When are they?

Rory will figure out his putting and become #1 again

Would love it if he did!

Majors

Masters- Jordan Spieth

US Open- Tiger Woods

British- Jon Rahm

PGA- Cameron Champ/ Joaquin Neiman/ Bryson DeChambeau

I’m looking for 2019 to be the year of new blood. I’m hoping at least 3 golfers under the age of 25 make significant impressions on the golf scene. In spite of his success I’m just not a Brooks guy and have already grown tired of the McIlroy/DJ high expectations followed by high dissapointment. Where’s the next Jack or Tiger? I realize this type of players is more of a once in a lifetime type thing but just hoping for someone to get excited about. Also hoping that The US Open at Pebble can redeem the tournament with a great week and a great champion. Bring on 2019
