Approximately.........
Just want to know how many golf balls you guys approximately use in a round of golf ?

I personally use 1-2 during a 18 hole golf course, but if I play a new course with a lot water hazards and my swing is off I can easyli use up to 5-6 balls and even more if I let my temper take contol :cheesy:

My HCP is 4.9 right now BTW.

Just the one. I usually play a ball until the dimples are beaten flat and it looks grey in color, then I retire it to the shag bag.

I generally get 2 balls out of my bag on the first tee and unless it is an unusually bad round I will finish the round with both of them. If a ball gets scuffed off the cart path or by hitting something else, I will usually pull it out of play when that hole is complete and replace it with another ball. In recent years, the most balls I can remember losing in a round was 3.

I wonder who voted 0 balls for your round? How is it possible to play a round without a golfball?

I go through 1-6 every tournament round just depending solely on how many wedge shots I hit. Every 3/4 or higher swing I take with a GW, SW, or LW; I will have to replace the ball with in the next couple holes, just because they scuff the ball like crazy. I would say that I 'lose' a ball every other round or so just due to water hazards/woods and whatnot, but my course doesn't really have THAT many hazards, and I know the club that I need to hit for every hole. If I am in a tournament I am MUCH more picky about the condition of my ball because I don't want to worry about equipment hindering my preformance at all, especially if I have 11 others in my bag that can replace them. During a casual round I will play the whole round with one ball (in case I lose it), but I don't care near as much if I am playing a scuffed ball or not unless it is REALLY bad.

Usally use 3 or 4 during a round. I like to switch the ball out every 6 or so holes.

Depends on the course and the time of year up here in the north east.

Summer on the home course 1, maybe 2 if I catch a hazard or lose sight in the sun and rough.

Summer on an unknown course, could be 2-6 depending on what type of layout and what type of yardage books / GPS system they have and use (how well you can see, understand, and avoid danger).

Fall with lots of falling leaves, could be a ball a hole if they don't clear the leaves.

Depending on the course. If it's a good course with great greens, I'll change a ball everytime it gets a few scuffs. If it's lousy, I'll play it till the number wears off. Of course all this is also dependent on my driver...which has been known to stray waaaaaay left once in awhile! :)

Playing in a tournament: Potentially 6 golf balls. I swing a driver at about 120 and a 6 iron at 100 and I constantly have my grooves on my wedges resharpened. So playing a course I tend to mostly hit wedges into holes so I like to switch to new golf balls so that I dont end up playing a scuffed ball. I find the Pro V1x to last about 3 holes, so potentially 6.

Practice: 3 golf balls. Ill usually switch every 6 holes to basically max them out so as to not waste golf balls and I'm not quite as concerned about it rolling perfectly when its chipped etc. so I dont find the need to switch as much as in tournaments.

Helps that a friend of mine is on tour and hooked me up with dozens and dozens of Pro V1x's so I havent had to pay for golf balls in years. Gives me the freedom to be as OCD about the condition of the golf ball I play as I am.
