Just for the record, the first US Open was 1895, the first South Africa Open was 1903, and the first French Open was in 1906.

Masters first simply because of placement in schedule and familiarity of course/history.

Open Championship second due to imagination required to play different conditions and my bias toward links golf.

US Open and PGA Championship in virtually a dead tie due to USGA letting set-ups get out of hand in past.

Random aside- Great to see a post from @Mat562, hope you are doing well, my friend?

You use the word “parochial” to describe US tourneys, yet the word seems more apt in describing your own narrow perspective ; )

He must be the guy that on the first tee at Prestwick asked why the built it so close to the airport :D

Is this discussion about tennis or golf? Haha. We can’t have a French Open in golf, sorry. Ever tried putting on red clay?

LOL it hardly matters which came first, the course or the hotel. They shouldn't have built so close to the course. You shouldn't ever ask golfers to hit their tee shots over a building.

Train tracks can be a problem too. Even streets, which you would think they could reroute. Haha Those Brits aren't known for their well thought out planning.
