Ping release Fall 2019?

Recommended Posts

  • 2 months later...

For what it's worth I had gotten a full bag fitting from True Spec in October - still had to save money. Worried about the shaft recommendations and also about shafts I didn't try I'm hesitant and wanted to ensure if I purchased the i210's now I would still have the 'satisfaction guarantee' in the summer - just in case I didn't like how they were in wind, etc. - True spec said 'We can only honor the guarantee for 45 days starting in December 2019 because new 2020 product will come out and the i210's will no longer be available.' So doing some math - Jan 31, 2020 will be exactly 18 months from them releasing the i210's and they usually announced/leak about 2 weeks before availability - making 45 days from the first week in December landing on Jan 15th roughly - aka the longest they could offer a 100% refund in case I wasn't satisfied.

So I'm scouring the net looking for info on the i210 replacements that may or may not be getting announced Jan 15th with a Jan 31st release date - which fits exactly into what Ping has been doing in past years. I want the i210's so my main concern isn't 'fear of missing out' FOMO on the next set of irons - they really don't change much as much as the marketing would like you to think. I'm worried that once new ones drop - the fitting I had is no longer valid and I'll no longer be able to order them and I'll actually have to start over since according to most top fitters offering a 100% money back promise you'll love your clubs - they will insist since you're not fit into the new set they cannot stand behind that promise without another full blown fitting.

BTW - Dynamic gold player my whole life they fit me into the Oban CT 115's and I have no idea how those will react with wind, turf, flighting up or down, etc. AND a 45 day try out when its December/Jan in Illinois doesn't sit well with me. Worried. $90/shaft plus the MSRP on the heads we're talking a 1800 set of 8 irons.

Heard back after clarifying I was wanting the i210’s. They told me the i210’s are or will be available until mid summer. So maybe roughly us open they’ll drop a new set. I’ve pulled the trigger on the ping i210’s. Can’t wait.

I was fit for i210s this past weekend. I am holding off purchasing until at least mid-January. I'd hate to pay 100% retail for a new set of irons that get replaced before I even played one round with them outside. If Ping dropped the price a little I may pull the trigger. I remember last year Ping dropped the price of the G400 Crossover by early December as the G410 Crossover release date was approaching.

The rep came in with one of the proto heads, so the design could change some, but it looked really good. They wouldn't allow a pic because no one needs to lose their job. LOL They were also looking for a way for the finish to last longer. I hope they do.

Sounds good. Is the design/looks pretty similar in terms of being understated like the g700 but with a black finish or did they spice it up a bit ?

Looks somewhat similar. Some initial cosmetic changes. They didn't go into detail on the tech, but our pro got to hit the 7 iron. From what he said it was even more forgiving than the G700 and he said on the first hit, "Holy S...!" It went far. He has some concerns with the spin numbers, but we can control that in a fitting and shaft used. He said it will be a big seller for them.

"The I blade replacement is the blue print iron, that is exactly what Ping is telling us. The I500 and I210 replacements will be out sometime in Feb, price drop on both of those will come in Jan"

Ping has not indicated in any way that the BP is the iBlade replacement. The BP is a pure, small blade. The iBlade is a players cavity back

They are two very different irons- not even in the same category.

Just saw the $100 price drop on G410 drivers. Interesting move here. New drivers were not supposed to hit until next summer with the normal Ping 18 month cycle. Wondering if they are going to a yearly cycle like Callaway and TaylorMade now. Could be they are just price adjusting to where the old G400 line was to get a bump in sales but I doubt that as the full line is dropped.

Definitely an interesting move. Can't see anything replacing the G410 line this soon being they were released in Jan.

My guess is they want to move units to grab some holiday sales. Honestly unless you are named TM or Callaway these days I think it's tough to pull $500+ driver prices. Not knocking Ping, definitely like their stuff but competing with the two big dogs especially in the drivers category has to be a difficult space. This sort of 'right' prices them in the current market and should spark some sales.
