How many different courses have you played in one day?

Recommended Posts

I posted about my adventure on [Reddit](

"Reddit") too but my buddy and I played 6 different courses yesterday (9 holes at each) across a 160 mile stretch of Montana. We played rounds in 5 different towns along the way.

I was partially inspired to do this after playing 3 of those courses in one day last fall as well as things like the Bandon Solstice event (4-18 hole rounds at different courses). Hoping to try to add a 7th 9 next year if we try again!

Curious to hear about any other marathon type events WRX'ers have done involving multiple different courses!

About 25 times a year I will play 2 courses in one day. Usually 18 at the first course and 9 at the second. At some point over my time golfing I have likely played 3 courses in one day but can’t recall where or when.

There is no way I could play 9-holes 6-times that far apart distance wise all in the same day. For me Rigamortis begins to set in about 15 to 20 minutes after finishing a round and the process is accelerated if I sit down for an extended period. If I tried that 5+ times in one day I can’t imagine how tight I would be for the 4th through 6th (or 7th) rounds. I would much rather play 27-holes at 2 different courses 160 miles apart than 9-holes at 6 courses spread out over 160 miles.

If I was going to push the ‘how many can I do’ envelope I would just pick one course and play as many holes as I wanted until it was starting to no longer be enjoyable. I would much rather enjoy it rather than saying ‘look at how many courses I played’. To each their own though.

If you really want to push the envelope maybe try one of the areas that experience 24 hours of daylight in one day? That could be interesting.

I got through 2 and 3/4. Had to call it quits because it was getting too dark on the last round. At a semi private Red Hawk Resort in Reno, they have 36 holes and alternate the course for the members. We started at 7:30 AM, because it was Summer and it is known to get pretty hot out there so our plan was to get done by noon. Being a weekday, we went out as a twosome with two carts and finished well under 4 hours. We got back to the club house and one of the guys said if we wanted to play again, he could get us on the Hills course right away. It wasn't as hot as we thought it would be. Probably around 75 degrees, so we said, what the heck. Grabbed a sandwich at the clubhouse and started on our second 18. There was no one on the course and we finished that round in about the same amount of time. It was around 3:45 when we finished. We were driving back to the casino/hotel and thought to try and fit in as many holes as we can at Lake Ridge, which wasn't that far away and on the way back. We called them while driving to see if they could get us out and they said they could right away. So we got there around 4:15 and tee off around 4:30. We were almost done but it was starting to get dark, but we knew we had to at least play the signature island par 3 #17. So we skipped a few holes to be able to play it with some light.

I walk most of my rounds but rarely more than 18 in a day. I was reading that the Bandon Solstice event at 72 holes is 25-26 miles so yours at 81 holes is quite impressive!

I have walked over 100 in one day a few times, but all at the same course. It is tough, but doable if you are in decent shape.

> Nice! That would be a cool one too. I could definitely do MT,WY,ND and SD in a day here. Not quite a perfect 4 corners between them but close enough to reduce the road time.

It helps having Indiana and the SW part of Michigan so close. Couple that with 2 time zones and it was pretty easy to be truthful.

I did 3 different courses. Funny was in Montana. Played the two public courses and country club in the same day in Great Falls. Easy to do for sunlight in the summer for sure. Sunlight basically from 6am to 10pm typically the summer.

_Edit: Cart all 3 rounds. Walking only 36 holes, 54 would be a struggle... 72 no way LOL_

Played the 3 Mission Hills (Palm Springs area) courses one August day many years ago. My buddy and I looked like cooked lobsters at the end of the day.
