PXG Gen 3... Jan 2020 (ST, Gen 3 T and P Photos added Page 13)

That's exactly the position I'm in, and that's exactly what I'm hoping for. I enjoy the p790's performance, but I need a better feel from my irons.

I would suggest you try both the 2019 P790...improved feel and the GEN3 0311P irons. The G3 should be a bit softer, more muted by comparison...at least my G2 0311P were.

All should see comparable distance wise.

The pxg p model will be a softer more muted feeling...doubt they will have more feedback.

The pxg 0311t model would be closer to what you want and have better feedback...but you would see some distance loss.

I saw avg. 8 yd gain from 2017 790’s to Gen3 0311p and MUCH better feel. Just wish I had the cash to buy them. Momma got a new car for Christmas though...

You could always adjust the lofts on the 0311Ts to match the P790s. For those who are worried about distance loss anyways.

Are the P790s lofted like the 0311 P's? If so, you're talking 1 degree on most clubs.

The T has the low offset of a blade and a thinner core material. Stronger lofts will result in more offset (which I dislike) and with the thinner core will not produce the distance of the 790 iron....but it would certainly be better distance wise. Distance wise the T is close to the ST basis Billy H. results.

T model forgiving enough. It was more forgiving than my titleist ap3 in fitting I had. Front to back dispersion tighter and more forgiving out of toe strike much less drop off than ap3. I've not been disappointed since they arrived played 3 round all under handicap

Yes, a function of the head thickness, the T is thinner than the P and much more blade like in spin, distance, softer feel, perimeter weighted forgiveness.

The P is a larger, thicker head than the T with more distance built in but softer with more forgiveness as a result of the design.

Still see good distance on offcenter strikes with the P, and misses will be felt...so feedback is there just not blade like.

I have had full sets of the T and P, as well as the X driving irons, and the former XF now the XP iron.

The P is most closely comparable to the P790...just softer feeling. Excellent all around iron for most.

Some do a combo set with the P in the long and mid irons while using the T in the short irons....see Easyyy post above with pics.

Sounds like the P for me. So like the idea of the softer feel. The P790’s seemed a little colicky to me, but the performance was superb. Such a forgiving iron. I did not experience the fliers so many have with the 790’s. The only very small complaint I have is a wish for increased spin where I play very firm greens. Could use that extra spin. Other than that I love them.

Colby, I understand that there are things you can and cannot comment on but it seems silly that you can’t discuss the Gen3 irons when customers already have them. We’re not talking prototypes obtained from the “Tour”. These are clubs that have already been promoted, fit and sold by PXG (official). Love you guys and your products but am confused on the cloak and dagger approach to Gen3 information.

Agree 100%, here I got the Gen 3's a few weeks ago through the PXG 1000 club and reading his post he makes it sound like there is another iron in the works already.

Yeah find it very strange. I had my gen 3 fitting november ordered 311T was told was only coming in Jan 2020. But they arrive mid December before official release, absolutely made up that they did but find it very strange u can't talk about the gen 3 irons even though pxg are sending them out to customers .
