I know the seller and saw the putter personally before it was sold. The thing was MINT and the buyer got a tremendous deal. I’m not sure if that was even the same putter face in the buyer’s pic. Seems like an obvious manipulation for monetary compensation to me!

Velcro won’t do that to a T22. It’s not from use either. Somebody must have tried to polish it. I have several rounds on my T22 and aside from patina and some pitting from striking a sandy golf ball, there aren’t any scratches like that.

I think it looks worse in the picture than it really is I imagine. My T22 has never been polished, but just normal use and I have some similar to that if you tilt it at the right angle, nothing you'd feel if you ran a finger over it. Similar to paint swirls in black paint

IMO, I don't understand the point of this thread if the buyer isn't named and doesn't participate. Especially since it seems the OP has hashed it out with the buyer, but didn't divulge any specifics of it other than not wishing to do business with the guy again - obviously the compromise didn't leave a good taste in the OP's mouth. It just comes off like a waste of everyone's time who took time to weigh in, if it really didn't matter in the end. It seemed like the board agreed overwhelmingly that there was no real reason for the buyer to gripe, based on the info at hand. If someone is playing dirty pool on the BST doing petty things like this they need to be singled out; this nit picking for an additional discount after the sale, betting on it being more hassle for the seller to dispute it than it is to just buckle and give him some "hush money" back and make it go away. It's entry level extortion, and it should be exposed and the buyer made to explain himself, if that's actually what happened here. Maybe folks here would fell differently after hearing what the buyer had to say. Or maybe not. But the last thing I want as a BST user is members who are taught that all they need to do is complain a little after a sale to get some of their original price back.

I guess I don’t understand why (edit - I mean, I don’t understand why it’s not in this case). It’s a dispute between two users, each think they are right and it needs moderated. I mean, the BST needs some form of entry-level arbitration, I just kind of always thought that was the purpose this forum served in these situations. Otherwise, any time a dispute comes up the buyer holds all the power and can just file a PayPal dispute or report the charge to their credit card company. Which encourages this post sale extortion you see here.

How do we know it was 'extortion'? What if it was legitimately scratched and original photos didn't show the scratches, thus item was misrepresented? I'd be upset to spend that kind of many and receive an item with unexpected scratches. Impossible to know without hearing both sides.

I agree that the disclosure of the username should be SOP in these cases.

It's sort of a gift or payment for asking for everyone's feedback on your situation. Especially if you think you got taken advantage of. Don't you want to protect others from that?

And if the buyer feels they haven't done anything wrong, they shouldn't mind having their username revealed either.

Shouldn’t the mods be protecting the entire community? Seems odd that they are asking specifically to not share the handle with the community and allow us to make our own decision based on what we know. I’m sure some wouldn’t care and some will.

As of now, he/she is the only person offering any third party information. How is that biased? The buyer is more than welcome to provide anyone that can cooperate their story, as well.

The potential bias is to have his friend's back, hardly a neutral party/opinion
