I‘ve been playing the Gen 3’s for two seasons now and had a chance to hit the Gen 5’s in a PXG studio. I was actually getting about 12-15 yards more carry with the 7 iron with the Gen 5, but the spin was down as you said. The descent angle was much better there, which makes me think it could be a lower CG to offset it and not end up being that big of difference when it comes to holding greens?

I am still playing them after 2 seasons with them, but would be lying if I said I wasn’t starting to get some wandering eyes. The Gen 3 irons feel great, have great forgiveness, and spin/carry decently. I’ve really only played seriously for two years now, so trying to tell myself to work on my swing for another season and then get fit. Recently put in a simulator and found that my angle of attack on irons was actually up, and have gained an extra 15-20 yards since getting it to -4 - so I’m almost in a new phase with them now that I know my launch monitor numbers. My only complaint with numbers would be that I can’t get my long irons to spin. Coming in at -3 to -4 AoA, with 85 mph club head speed and a slight cut generates me only 3,500 rpm’s on great contact with the 6 iron. Not sure if others have the long iron problem - it could be just me. I’m sure the two years of wear on the faces probably hurt spin a bit too.

Yeah, they're still in the bag after ~300 rounds. I've swapped them out a couple of times for my old Ping i200s, but the switch doesn't last long. The Pings have more bounce, or at least feels that way, and are a bit better in sloppy conditions. Otherwise the P's get the job done.

 

I've been eyeing the Ping i230's, but until I get a chance to hit them I'm sticking with the P's. I could probably use a bit more forgiveness, but I'm not out there earning a living. Good swings are rewarded with a medium ball flight and enough spin to hold most greens.

I still have my Gen3 P’s, but late last fall they moved to the backup bag. Only reason…I really wanted Black irons and Pxg brought out the 0211 Xcor2 in Black 🥴😬.  The 0211 Xcor2 irons are nearly identical to the P’s in size (they actually look smaller top line) but could be the color doing that. The P’s feel better, but that’s the only difference for me, that and lofts being different…has enabled me to drop my 5 iron from the bag and have an extra slot to play with…extra driver, or driving iron etc.

Moved on from the Gen 3 P's to the Gen 4 Xtreme Dark XP's.

 

Then from the G4 Black XP's to the G5 Black Elite XP's.

 

Then from the Gen 5 Black Elite XP's BACK to the Gen 4 Xtreme Dark XP's. Like them so much for the first time ever I ordered an identical back up set.

How would the 0311p's compare in forgiveness to the srixon zx5's? no place to demo the pxg's Thanks

I've had both sets with Steelfiber i95's. They are very comparable. I'd give the edge to the P's in terms of feel and distance control and that's why they're in the bag.
