Well you still need to work on your game but yes she should chill on tournament golf for a few weeks.

Well, she will get a bit of rest now thanks to the abbreviated Covid season.  Next event is in 2 - weeks; the Drive On to help fill the schedule and then the next one afterwards is a month later, Nov. 22 with the VOA event next followed by the USWO 2 weeks later at Champions Golf Club in Houston ... started by 2 PGA pros and fellow texans, Jimmy Demaret and Jack Burke Jr. ... Mr. Burke is still with us and is, I believe, the last living link between the Hogan/Snead era and today's golf.

I’m assuming the four groups that tee off after the leaders on Sunday will be made up of the players at the bottom of the leaderboard.

Well based on today's starting times, it looks very much like they will be using the double tee system, the "lower groups" starting on 10 with the leading groups starting on 1.  So that should mean that the traditional final groups should still be in the same order, per se ... just not the absolute last groups though as the lower groups will be finishing up on 9 while the leading groups finish up on 18.

Yes, Minjee could have used that advice for after the ANA, skipped Portland and had 2 weeks off came back at the Shoprite, like most of the Top 10.

question:  how are pairings determined if there's a tie?  best round of the day?  (seems like it's not being followed here in this tournament eg best round doesn't get paired with the next higher non-tied grp)

Cause it's a PGA event I'm  pretty sure it's first player in with score goes latest.

LPGA uses their discretion for third round; they don't follow the first in, last out protocol used by PGA for Saturday tee times.  But they don't fool around for Sunday; it's strictly first in, last out.

Even though it's not a big deal, but it makes sense the way LPGA does it.   Because Friday's order of finish is purely random; it isn't based on merit.

thanks, so it'll be inbee, bianca and mina then... mina's been done ages ago too (and is the best round at -4 for today for T6 cumulative)... thanks!

Best round of the day -- so far, are a pair of 65's ... by the two "B's" -- Brooke & Bianca.  SYK is still on the course so she could conceivably birdie 17 & 18 (at time of writing this post). ... Okay, SYK made par on 17 and bogeyed 18.

Just think, more rounds like this and a few wins and before you know it Bianca could join the First Name Club ... Lydia, Brooke, Nelly, Inbee, Ariya, ...etc.   😄

Tomorrow could be very important for B2 (Bianca as B1 is Brooke 😄),  for USWO qualification:  if she can stay in the top 10, she will be in for Champions Golf Club in December.  🤞

the top three players, not otherwise exempt, in the top 10 and ties of the KPMG PGA Championship

How often do you see a player shot +7 in the opening round at a Major and fights back in contention on Sunday!

There's only one Bianca!

I guess Sei Young wants to make tomorrow a little be more interesting; she bogeyed the last hole to entice the chaser group.

Since Danielle is totally exhausted, we'll have new drivers to do the chase; Brooke and Anna.  Should be a lot of fun!

Quote of the day ... by SYK, (paraphrasing so I might not have it exact) ...

Q:  How do you make those clutch putts like that?

SYK:  I don't make clutch putts, if I did I would have won more!

I nearly fell of the chair laughing -- great sense of humour and humility!

This is the 3rd event Brooke has managed to shot/tie for the low of the day on Saturday.  She had mixed success her first 2 times a 69 at thw ANA which was good score for that day but  only managed to shoot -1 at the shoprite, will see if she can find another low tomorrow, Sei Young is looking really good on this course though she should be tough to beat and Inbee and Anna are wily vets who can sneak a low round.  Someone further back could make a good run if they are hitting it well, I think there's a 62 out there if you're firing on all cylinders

Didn't expect Lydia's or Danielle's play today. Certainly not when there were plenty of birdies to be had out there.

That and Minjee; there aren't words to describe what Minjee did today.

Who knows, may be those three will finish 1, 2, 3  at US Women's Open!

Minjee's problem this week is her ball striking, missing way too many fairways and greens and you'll get punished around this course doing that.  Minjee will be fine she'll sort it out all players go  through ebbs and flows every year, it just really stands out when you under perform at a Major.

Golf is a funny game, humiliating one day (or more depending on skill level) and then exhilarating the next.  So, I would agree with you, it is very possible for a finish like that!

The Sunday tee time is exactly as expected.

On Saturday, 13 groups teed off from #1 and 12 from #10.

On Sunday, the tenth group tees off first from #1, pushing eleventh group to tee off first from #10.  This goes on until first ten groups have teed off from #1 and second ten from #10.

After that, the twenty-fifth group follows the first group and tees off from #1, and so forth.

The best score for the final five groups is +9; it's unlikely to produce a winner.

The twenty-fifth group is Patty Tavatanakit, Hinako Shibuno and Minjee Lee.

Not only they've the indignity of shooting the worst scores for three rounds, they're also highlighted when they tee off after the final group.

In 1985 Curtis Strange shot 80 (+8) in the first round of The Masters and trailed by 12 shots. He was 1 shot off the lead after the third round. He led by 3 shots with 6 holes to play and finished T2 after hitting it in the water on 13 & 15.

I didn’t know we need to go back 35 years.

It’s a long time!

Also in the 2015 US Open Louis Oosthuizen shot 77 (+7) in the first round and finished T2 after birdieing 6 of his last 7 holes. There may be others but I can't think of who they might be. Hell of an accomplishment by any player that does it.

I know it gets old because it seems to be brought up on a regular basis, but does it seem there are even more commercial breaks than normal?  I’m watching the 2nd round this morning and at least twice I’ve seen them come back from commercial, do an interview, show two shots and go to break again. I guess their feeling is that the “playing through” idea allows them to show more commercials?

I miss Judy Rankin!!  Paige MacKenzie talks WAY too much.  And I hate “playing through”!  I think they are definitely running more commercials, and you can’t really see what’s happening on the split screen.  Plus my favorites’ shots so often seem to come during “playing through”.   At least with the regular commercials they will show any important shots after the commercial.

Other than that I’m enjoying the broadcast. 😬

'Probably the most pressure Sei Young has experienced in her career. Has she ever led a major going into the final round? At the 2015 KPMG she trailed Inbee by 2 shots going into the final round, and finished 2nd five shots back. She may have had a share of the lead at the '18 Evian, but shot +1 in the final round, finishing T2 one stroke behind Angela.

I really wish the LPGA website would make it easier to find the tournament pages for old events that are no longer on the schedule. The Evian was canceled this year, and instead of showing it on the 'Tournaments' page with a 'Canceled' label, they simply remove it.
