They have tried to buy Haas multiple times.  Haas isn't selling.  And nobody runs a business in such a way that they invite for a meeting(especially this level of meeting), and let it all ride on one email.  Unless you never really wanted to have the meeting but can cop out by saying "we tried" and hope nobody calls you on your BS.

I really don't see any of those happening. Maybe Botas, but they have a lot of options next year. Aston Martin wants to keep Alonso pretty bad.

Hard to say, as Newey reportedly owns a partial stake in the team.  I’m not sure how to explain all this to my son (who is a big RBR/Max/Newey fan) if it goes down.
 

Removing Newey and Horner from Red Bull would turn the entirety of F1 on its head.  As much as I don’t mind some chaos in sport, this feels sketchy.  Whatever the facts, I hope it is handled as fairly as possible.

Agreed, this could be a pretty boring season LOL.

 

Speaking of, I had a chance to catch the Netflix Nascar show while I was bored and looking for something to watch on the Peloton the other day. Pretty good. Same quality as the rest of their sports stuff. I grew up working at a Nascar track in high school and maybe ten or so years ago I did road trips to all the big tracks that I wanted to see (Daytona/Taladega/Charlotte). I dont watch much anymore but if there's one thing I miss about Nascar its the closeness of the racing, you'd never see a race where guys have 5 or 10 or 30 second leads the whole race.

The only thing Yuki is breaking out of is his harness after he inevitably crashes into the barriers.

So far I think the new Drive to Survive has been...just OK. Its not bad, its just more of the same I guess. They did a whole episode on Mercedes and Lewis being unhappy with the car...and didnt even cover him leaving for Ferrari. In fact they closed the episode with the old rumor of him signing a new deal with Mercedes. I get that there is lead time to producing these things and maybe they couldnt work much in at the last minute - but he signed what, a month ago? You couldnt put in screenshot that gives the news?

 

I dont know, I'm sure I'll watch the rest of it. And to be fair it would be pretty boring if they just covered Max winning every week.

Lewis didn't sign until after the season. There were some rumors, but he had just signed a 2 year extension and nobody talked about an exit clause. Even though they are common.

They've put little clips like that in every single season about stuff that happens in the offseason. Would have been very easy for them to add *something* in there given that there was a month between when he signed and when this came out.

If you knew nothing about F1 and watched this show you would think he had signed a two year deal with Mercedes, which is how they ended that episode.

 

Just lazy.

Finished the season, thought it was mediocre. The Vegas episode was good. But again not much you can do when Max wins every weekend by huge margins.

 

I thought Danica was fine, at least shes somewhat involved in broadcasts. Claire Williams got more TV time than she did when she was actually in F1 which hasnt been for what, four years.

As I’ve stated here before, I’m a casual F1 fan at best. Currently on episode 3 of the new season of DTS. Why is Danika Patrick one of the commentators??? I was fairly confident that here experience was in Indy & NASCAR.

She wasn't a terrible driver, but she seems a little clueless and her commentary is awful. 

 

It seems Netflix thought she would bring in more US fans only to find out she isn't cared for. 🤣

As you guys have probably surmised, this is my go to spot for F1 info, and I did Google this and fail b4 asking. Watching DTS (the 2023 season) they said Hamilton signed a 2 year extension w/Mercedes. So I’d assume that is for 24 and 25. Then I see he is w/Ferrari in 25. What am I missing?

He had an exit clause for lack of confidence. He felt Mercedes didn't have the car, so he bailed. 

 

<edit> I think Charles's new contract goes to '28 with a similar opt out should Ferrari not get it together.

If they get the car dialed, Max might win them all and I actually wouldn't be surprised.

 

Maybe somebody else found some magic, but Newey built a whole different car just to mess with folks and he used Mercedes failed zero pod design.

He hasn't made a serious mistake in 3 years, he's just driving so well. His first lap in Q3 was all he needed, but he beat it because he could.
