Titleist T200 Utility vs U500?

Has anyone had chance to hit the new T200 utility yet and have any comparisons to the U500 in terms of looks, offset and feel (oh and performance)? Last week at the WGC a few Titleist staffers changed from the U500 to the T200 utility, and loads had them in play at the Open. Even JT put the T200 2 iron in play for the Open which is the 1st event that he has dropped the 915 5 wood in the last few years! Cheers.

I have hit both... not extensively but I have hit both on the range.  I found the T200 way easier to launch than the U500.  The turf interaction on the T200 is awesome as well.  I got fit for T100 for 4-P and the T200 in 19* with the Project X Smoke RDX in 90g.

Can't comment on performance, they didn't have a T200 long iron last I stopped in to a golf shop. I also couldn't find offset data published, I only read that they have the same offset as the T100 which is good to hear. Biggest thing is T200 is forged so I imagine the feel will be a bit better, and the tech in it is very intriguing. I'm looking to put a utility 3 iron in the bag and I have my eye on this one for sure.

Hit both at fitting yesterday. Was strongly leaning U505 going in because of TXG video. Hit it well but results were inconsistent. Thought it was just me and then fitter handed me the T200 with a Graphite Design IZ 95 stiff shaft. Strangely, it was remarkably easy to hit and results were far more consistent, and it flew higher.  Maybe  just me but ended up choosing T200 because I found it easier to hit. 4 and 5 in the T200 with my iron shaft and then T100S 6-P and a vokey 48F

You hit last release’s U500 as well? How did the T200 compare? Have a U500 2i in the bag that has been great, ordered the T200 2i for comparison... hope it’s just as good in a slightly smaller package?

I have the U500 also in the 3 iron, Atmos Black 9x, just ordered T200 utility 3 iron with Tensei AV raw white 90x as really enjoy the Pro White in my 3 wood, feel the Atmos lacks in feel but U500 is a great club! Any improvement would be immense!

I haven’t had the chance to hit either. My shop didn’t carry either these (T200 utility and U505) clubs. I only tried the U510 at my local shop along with the SIM UDI 2 iron and T200 7-iron. May be apples to oranges comparison, but it was the closest IMO to getting an idea. The U510 felt nice and easy to hit, but dispersion was a bit all over the place for me (more so operator error) and it was really chunky looking which would definitely contrast to the looks of the T100s in the bag and at address. The UDI had better dispersion and wasn’t too demanding. My thinking is the UDI is going to look and play similar to the T200 utility build. I went ahead and ordered the T200 utility build in both a 3-4 iron with HZRDUS RDX Black in addition to T100s 5-GW and crossing my fingers these work out.

I’ll have some updated feed back once these arrive and I have a chance to get a few rounds with them.

Okay, so last week I’ve done some extensive testing between U500 and new T200 4i and 3i.

Even tough T200 is a nice club, the clear winner for me is U500 in every aspect. The difference in offset is huge. 3 and 4 U500 both have an offset of 2.2. T200 has 3.3 and 3.1 and when standing over the ball it is, to say at least, significant.

I have a hard time understand so many Pro:s went T200 with this amount of offset - unless they have some versions we don’t see in retail.

I will play new T100 or T100s (have both as complete sets - testing and comparing) so the matte finish on the U500 is a nice bonus that blend perfectly with the new T100 series.

I also had a T200 set 4-P in addition to these T200 Utility Builds but sold it. They were ok, but T100/s was superior in feeling, sound and looks.

I had also a really hard time accepting the plastic badge on T200.

It’s sensitive for bag shattering breaking the paint layer.

Just the sound when you pick up a ball to the driving range mat and correct it with the back of the head to lay still you had that plastic “click” every single time it touched the ball.

Every time you clean and rinse your club with water there will be water behind the badge sipping out. What might rust on the inside etc.?

It’s extremely sensitive when heating up the hosel for swapping shafts - one second of too much heat the and badge will be deformed. The list might go on…

I've been playing the u500 4i 23* with HZRDUS Smoke Black 90 6.5 for the last several weeks.  Just picked up a T200 Utility Build 4i 22* with HZRDUS Black RDX 90 6.5 today so I'll be putting them head to head as soon as I can.  I switched from a 3h to a 5w and created a bit of a distance gap between my 5w and 4i so was looking to get another 5-10 yds out of my 4i to close the gap a bit as I was playing the T100 4i with PX 6.0.  Nothing was wrong with the u500 but just happened across the T200 UT in my golf shop with a 6.5 flex so had to grab it.  Love the HZRDUS line and PX so already had my shaft of choice in there!

T200 definitely has a touch more offset but it's really not that bad.  No doubt though the u500 looks a touch better at address with the reduced offset.  I never felt the u500 was significantly more forgiving or easier to hit though than my T100 4i but with the graphite shaft and likely a touch hotter face, it definitely gave me the extra 5-10 yards I was looking for to close the gap.

I'll post some pics later this evening for anyone that wants to see a side-by-side and hopefully I'll get them on the range soon and can do a quick write up of u500 vs T200 Utility Build.

Best,

T200 definitely feels more solid and is more forgiving.  At address, they certainly look more similar than different.  I really don't notice the extra offset much in the T200.  T200 is also ~5 yards longer and it's only 1* degree stronger (22* vs. 23*) and has better sound and feel for sure.  Can't go wrong with either but if you're thinking of getting one, T200 is the better club in my opinion.  Even the 4 iron is a beast off the tee.  I'm going to hang onto them both - they're hard to find in X-flex without having to custom order them.  I got the T200 from Carl's Golfland and they had some in stock in X-flex.  Love the HZRDUS shafts too and the newer version (RDX Black) is super solid.  I do really like my T100 set 4-iron as well but I hit both of these a touch higher and it's nice to have a little more juice when I need to use it off the tee where 5w is too much.  I need to get some more range time in with them all but T200 will likely end up in the bag.

I have said this in another thread T200 is the best club Titlest has going. It is a rocket launcher. KBS Proto shaft. The thing absolutely hits missles.

I have hit both. I take a little divot with my 2i so for me it just feels like the T200 is less muted on impact. I have no idea why technically but it felt like more energy transfer, hotter off the face, and looked cleaner at address.

Both are excellent clubs, but just my opinion these T200 clubs are winners.

I play zx7s and might be going back to blades, but I would love a t200 2i w/ KVD proto shaft. Titleist killed it with the T200. Definitely most improved club this year. I hit them next to Ping i59 irons which are outstanding and the T200 was a softer feel, hotter face in my opinion.

I have loved the u510 with stock hrzdus since I got it two years ago.  The 500 didn’t have the offset I needed.  I  tried the 505 and the t200 a few months ago, saw no difference distance or spin between them or mine.  Really just what you want to look down at.  U does seem more forgiving

Bumping this and hoping more guys have had a chance to compare the new T200 utility vs u505. I got my set including a u505 3-iron, T200 4-5, and T100s 6-pw. Love the set, my only sticking point is if a T200 utility 2 or 3 would be better than the u505. The 505 hits more like a hybrid, as in high and maybe a little more spinny than I’d like, especially as a second tee club. My favorite previous utility was a SIM UDI 2-iron, however it could sometimes get a little wide dispersion-wise.

To add further, the T200 4-5 are possibly my favorite clubs in the set. Incredibly easy to hit vs other sets I’ve had recently, which makes me want to try the t200 utility build even more.

Waddup golfers. Little background about my game: 4 handicap, high spin/high speed guy (125 average club speed), borderline scratch iron game, and about a 10 handicap off-the-tee game lol. Always found that a miss with an iron is way better for me than a miss with a hybrid/wood SO in typical WRX fashion I’ve been tinkering around with the top end of my bag trying to find a solid go-to fairway finder. Spent a ton of time today hitting just about every utility/driving iron. I hit the u505, t200 Utility, ZX Utility, Mizuno Pro FliHi, 790 UDI, SIM UDI, X-forged UT, and Ping 425 Crossover. Also have played the u500 as my 4 iron for a while until recently. To make a LONG story short, the u505 was incredibly impressive and was by far the easiest to hit/most consistent. Ball speeds were solid and spin numbers were great even on iffy strikes. Similar to what the TXG guys saw in their video, the 505 was not overly spinny or balloony for me and was so easy to hit it high but plenty capable of flighting it down. With all that said, it’s a bigger footprint for sure, but I gotta say that I got used to the look down by the ball pretty quick. The leading edge has a way of really taking your focus away from the junk in the trunk that is hanging off the back of the club so kudos to the Titleist design team for figuring that one out. Overall, if you’re looking for a really forgiving fairway finding utility that will double as a great par 5/long par 4 weapon then 100% keep the u505 on your radar. Also if anyone is curious, I would rank the ZX utility and T200 in a dead tie for my #2 after the u505.
