Just seen these an hour ago. Sheer desperation from TM.

Or...and hear me out here...there is a group of golfers who really like the alignment help and like the look of a non-white golf ball.  Just throwing that out there since I am part of that group.  Does not seem like desperation to me as much as Taylormade attempting to fill a spot in a growing/emerging market.

In that group too, very intrigued by this new approach, just never got along with project A performance wise. Assuming this tour response ball plays pretty similar.

Got a box of Tour Response Stripe.

This ball feels good, launches slightly higher, spins acceptable.

THE DURABILITY IS ABSOLUTELY CRAP.

Hit a few partial wedges on a par three course. Nicks and cuts within a couple of shots.

The yellow stripe started to peel off after 5 holes.

I measured the compression at 78.

In comparison the q-star tour divide is superior.

Durability of CS truvis also much better.

I bought a dozen just to try out, with the idea that when playing in a tournament foursome it will be easier to identify my ball. Just hoping it is compatible with my swing.

The old tour response was fairly durable so it’s sad to see they’ve made that aspect worse.

That was probably how they were able to get the performance they needed.  I'll probably still give them a shot, but shredding covers like that isn't good.  But they're probably banking on most people won't be able to mark up a ball like that.  Or they'll be lost first.  🙂

The endurance test in Rick's video had more favorable results:

I have two tournaments this weekend and plan to play them. So I will find out for myself.

TM TR Stripe after 6-8 partial shots with a wedge.

TM TR STRIPE.jpg

Some of that looks to be the stripe material peeling off rather than ball damage.  Much of it definitely looks like ball damage though.  I wonder if the standard ball wears differently than the striped ball.  Could be that the stripe material (ink? paint?) just isn't as durable standard ball paint.

I'm willing to bet that's the type of paint used for the stripe.  Shiels and James Robinson didn't have the same problem with the ball tearing up.

I’ll be getting some non-stripe ones to test but I won’t be able to get out until next week. Will feed back when I do as I’ve been a user of the previous tour response.

I played them in a tournament today. My normal ball is a Bridgestone Tour B X. Other than skipping one off the cart path I had no noticeable degradation of the cover or paint. Even the ones I knocked off some trees.

It's fine at teebox address, I just point the white part at me.

Tracks fine in the air on a sunny day.

Slightly harder to see in the rough, it has a 'muted' presence the same way a dirty or faded ball would look.

Really great being able to pick your ball out from a distance, this is why I bought it. My playing partner hit another guy's ball today when his Vice was plugged about 10 yards ahead.

Aligning with the ball isn't part of my putting game, but it was cool to see how straight my strikes were rolling.

I just can not putt with a ball this soft, unfortunately. I had no distance control with it.

I will play with it tomorrow and then most likely put them in my short game shag bag when I get home. Similar to the Srixon Divide they are a cool training tool but not ready for prime time yet. Paint a TP5 with the stripe and I may come back.

I loved the old version. Nearly the perfect ball for me. Plays a lot like the original W/S FG Tour 3 piece, only better in the wind and a tiny bit less spin with the wedges.

Just stocked up at a discount.

I've got 3.5 dozen, should last a couple of years for me. I don't lose balls that often and can usually play one of these a couple of round barring cart path or tree interaction....

different strokes for different folks but I really love the striped tour response.  played this ball for the last 2 rounds and coincidently had 2 of the best putting rounds in recent memory.

played the same ball for those two rounds and found the durability to be excellent. not sure what the picture above was about with 6-8 partial wedges. i found it to be completely opposite with the durability.

Love to see a comparison between the TR and the Titleist TruFeel (2022).  I know these balls should not compare since the TR has a urethane cover, but I saw a review of the TruFeel and it was really good... like comparable to the ProV1 in distance AND SPIN OFF A WEDGE.  How can that be?  Priced significantly less than the TR so it's worth considering but haven't had a chance to do that.

I've played the TR (prior version) and was not impressed compared to what I was playing at the time... I think it was the e12 Contact, which is not a urethane cover.
