The stripe is kind of cool.  Visually, very easy to align.  It feels like it makes the ball look smaller to me for some reason.  But, it does seem to help alignment.  If it's successful, I wonder if we'll see it bleed into the TP5 line.

I have a trackman session scheduled tomorrow.  I will give them a try to see if it's a ball I can get along with in a lower price point.

How come everytime somebody makes a ball I like at a decent price, they change the ball and/or raise the price?

 Story of my life....

Now I'll have to stock up on the older model at a discount.

My Duo Pro appears to be done, I may have to turn to the Tour Response as a replacement.  But, I'm also less excited about the price increase.  Might find myself hunting down the prior model, same as you...

Adding comment, not a fan of the alignment stripe for my own use, won't be partaking of that sub-model of the ball...

Nice work by TM coming out with something new. I like the unique look of the Stripe. Let's see how it plays.

This and I want to try it out for better flight and spin.  I'll put it against the Q Star Tour and see what happens.

Was sent a dozen of these. They are SUPER soft. I play tour b x and have played tour b xs before. They are softer than both of those by a big margin. I'd say these balls have adequate spin around the greens. Not as much as the tour b x but they don't rollout like crazy either.

From a putting perspective, I've tried a line on the ball before and can't stand it. A single line looks like it's pointing left of the hole when standing over the putter. This track thing REALLY helps with that. I could game the track system and it would probably really help inside 10 feet.

I won't game the ball, it's not made for my swing speed (110ish with driver) and it'd take something special to get the tour b x out of my hands. But it's a solid ball otherwise.

Played the Tour Response before and liked it. Was planning on giving it a go again now winter is coming back around in the Southern Hemisphere but the bump up to $64/dozen from ~$52 doesn’t make financial sense with the Q Star Tour at $46/dozen. Might grab some of the stripe version to throw in the bag for putting practice though. Intriguing design.

Played the TR and compared it to the Bridgestone e12 Contact, which was my gamer at the time.  The e12 was longer off the driver and irons and about the same when hitting into the green.  With a price hike of $5, I see no reason to compare it again.  Currently, playing the 2022 Chrome Soft while also looking at the Bridgestone RXS which has a really, really good feel off the putter and slightly better spin characteristics than the CS.

So, the ball showed some promise. Off of my irons, spin and speed seemed to be pretty similar to the BX I was using. It definitely feels different at impact. Not bad. Just different.

I did find it to seem a little slower off of the longer clubs. I am not a big LM guy so I’ll try to confirm it in real playing conditions. Some short game work to see if can grip like some of the other popular balls.

At your swingspeed, I would expect you'd see a bit of speed loss.  You're right about the point (or a bit past it) that ballspeed starts to drop with the lower compression balls.

Price increase was anticipated. I like the new look a lot but, have been a big believer in hi vis golf balls for a while (as long as their urethane covered). Truvis, Pix, Yellow balls, Nike Volt RZN Tour Black is still my all time favorite ball, QStar and Srixon divides, Vice balls. Lot of opportunity for the player that likes a non-white ball.

If they’ve fixed the lack of spin on the short game that the previous generation had I’m interested. Just could not get the previous version to spin round the green but it was great with long clubs.

I might give this a try, especially if they do it on the TP5

I was a big fan of the Truvis but not of the Chrome soft

Callaway seems to be going away from the Truvis and more towards the Triple Track

Grabbed a dozen of the new version (regular, not striped) and played 2 rounds with this ball over the weekend.

Short review:

Shot my 2 lowest rounds of my last 20 with this ball, despite my iron swing being very inconsistent. Ball feels soft, but not mushy, spins adequately around the greens, but not as well as a tour level ball, and is extremely durable.

Longer review:

I'm a mid-swing speed level player (+/- 100mph off the driver) who has played a mix of different balls over the last several years, with the Snell MTBx, Snell MTB Black, ProV1X and TaylorMade TP5 being the ones in the regular rotation. Current index is 7.6 (down from 8.1 before Saturday). Well struck drive ends up +/- 270, I don't hit a ton of greens (37%), but consider myself a good putter with a decent short game that could always be better.

Thought I'd give this ball a try, even though it doesn't really fit my usual golf ball profile of higher wedge spin for when I miss the green.

Driver: this ball launches high, but with low spin and performs really admirably in the wind. I was downright shocked at the distance I got on several into the wind drives that ended up in places that I would regularly be with no wind or even downwind. The ball just jumps off the face and goes. This seems to run counter to what I've always thought was "soft is slow", but perhaps my swing speed isn't high enough to overcompress a soft golf ball, so I'm getting ideal distance with this.

Irons: again, ball flight is high, and spin is adequate. Honestly, despite a few really good iron shots, I didn't have a great iron ballstriking day overall (had a lot of pulls and a few really thin strikes). But well struck iron shots flew the expected distance and the ball stopped within a yard or two of it's mark on relatively firm greens. I hit some really nice short irons into greens that performed exactly as expected. Didn't really have many long iron approaches, but did hit some layup shots with long irons on longer par 5s that set me up nicely. Hit some really poor 6 and 7 irons that I can't judge the performance on, so that's still TBD.

Wedges: Full wedges stopped easily, and to my surprise, partial wedge shots did the same. There was no sucking back of a 65 yard lob wedge, but more of a one hop and stop performance. Had quite a few less than full wedges and this ball worked well for them, which was one of my bigger concerns.

Around the green: Chips and pitches performed well, and I enjoyed the soft feel. Run out was a bit more than my usual balls, but it didn't take long to adjust to. Actually had two really good chipping days with numerous easy up and downs.

Putting: I like the "Tour Response" print which makes for a nice line. Feel is soft, but most of them are off my insert putter.

Durability: This is where it really shines. No significant wedge peeling or anything of the sort. Even hit a cart path and a tree, and didn't experience the usual damage from either.

Overall: Maybe I just had a couple good days of golf, but the only thing I changed from previous rounds is the ball. Shot 76 (+4) and 75 (+5) and felt really good about both rounds, especially considering I didn't have my best iron striking days. I'll definitely continue to test this ball, and will likely grab some more. $40 a dozen is a little higher than I'd like, but not a deal breaker for me. Only lost one ball all weekend, and that was a drive that went too far downwind and reached a hazard. The other ball I used still looks good and doesn't need to be retired.

The biggest drop in swingspeed from overcompression of softer balls happens somewhere over 110mph clubhead speed.  The relative ball speeds get closet together as you move thru the range of normal iron swingspeeds.  Once you get to a certain point, the softer balls actually produce slightly higher ballspeed.

The whole "soft is slow" mantra is overstated, until you get into the 115mph range, or thereabouts.

I played the Tour Response a lot last year.  I really liked the ball.  My driver SS is in the range of 90-100mph depending upon my knees that day.  This seems to be a sweet spot for this ball.  Of all the balls I played last year (rotation of TR, TP5, TP5x, Snell MTBx and Kirkland V2) I would say the TR is top 3 if not #1

I guess I am curious - not to hijack the thread - I swing at about 120ish mph.  How much speed am I really going to lose over my current gamer (Srixon XV)?  Because I have to assume the Tour Response would be lower spin due to it being softer.  So realistically, it could be a wash...could it not?

The reason I ask is because I love the Stripe idea.  I am a sucker for cool patterns (Truvis, Pix, currently game the Divide).

The closest comparison I can think of is recommending watching the TXG review of the Tour Response.  And the Duo Professional, which is softer.  Matt's swingspeed can get up there a bit, it might give you an idea.
