What changes will you be making to your bag in 2022?

Some of my bag is very set.

My Titleist 915Fd 3 wood that I've been using for the last 7 years.

Srixon Z745 irons are set

Titleist SM7 wedges are set.

I have two shafts for my TaylorMade Sim2 that I'm tinkering with. Mitsubishi Diamana S+ limited vs Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black. I like the stoutness of the RDX but I know I need the higher launch that I'd get from the Diamana.

I need a reliable club between my 3 wood and 4 iron and I go back and forth between my TaylorMade 200 steel 5 wood and Srixon Zu85 3 iron. I love using an iron off the tee on short or tight par 4's but it's not as forgiving or as easy to hit into the green on long approaches.

I've been going back and forth between putters also. A 2012 Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 and an Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7. I need to build some consistency with my putting and I think once I decide which one of these I like it will be my gamer for a long time. The Odyssey is easier to align and is more forgiving but I've been a blade user my whole career so the switch isn't as easy as I'd hoped.

With all of these changes I've struggled to find a ball that I like. I have been a Bridgestone Tour B XS user for 3-4 years now but I've tested the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1X, Bridgestone Tour B X, Srixon Z Star Diamond and the TaylorMade TP5.

Hopefully I'll get these things sorted soon!

Coping with the joys of advancing age, and an increasingly uncooperative back (not serious issues, fortunately).  Has me looking at a few things.

First, unrelated to the above, finding a new hybrid in the 17* / 18* slot.  My trusty Stage 2 Tour hybrid finally gave its all and is no more.  Currently auditioning a TEE CBX 17* with HZRDUS Black shaft.  May look at a King Tec hybrid, or a driving iron of some sort.  For fun rounds, have reshafted a Golden Ram 1 iron with Recoil 95.

Related to first paragraph, I find myself dropping shaft weight.  In times past, I couldn't get shafts heavy enough for me.  At one point, thought about searching for some of the very heavy Nippon prototypes.

Those days are gone.  I'm auditioning a HZRDUS 62 shaft in driver.  The hybrid shaft will be in the 85g territory, instead of 100g+.  Looking at reshafting a couple iron sets to 95g graphite (or building a new set).

Have also just ordered a Maltby TS1 3i clubhead to audition as a 3i replacement.

And... put 4 strip of HD lead tape on the sole of my Huntington Beach putter, and put it back in the bag.  Heavier is still working better in putters, it seems.

Hope I haven't rendered everyone comatose...

I've committed to an entire new bag this year. 2 years of saving, reviewing and fittings and it's finally come to fruition:

Srixon ZX5 driver

Cobra LTDx 3 wood and hybrid

Apex pro 4-AW

Putter fitting coming up on Saturday, and wedges later in the year when summer comes around (Aus).

Will fully embody the 'all gear, no idea' lifestyle 😎

I'll be getting new irons, possibly a new driver shaft and fairway wood, possibly a new putter. My problem is not being able to play enough to get a good swing for the fitting.

Well, let's see. There are 14 clubs in the bag, plus the bag itself, so 15 that I can think of.

But seriously, I have re-done my entire bag (see below). Zero holdovers from last year except the mini driver, which is in a rotation with my Tsi3 13.5 wood. I also ordered the Sm9 pitching wedge and I'm pulling the 225 Pw when the Vokey arrives. I'm thrilled with the new Vokey lineup. Still haven't made up my mind on the Mizunos TBH.

After a TruSpec fitting - I just completed the process of switching bag to regular flex. Ping shaft replacements were easy and the 525’s are money now that I’m playing the correct flex.
2 full sets of G710s now too stiff.

Just made some big changes to my bag.  I went all in on Sub70 with a new hybrid, irons and wedges.

939x Hybrid (18*) / Fujikura Ventus Blue 8X

699 Pro-U (4 iron) / Aerotech Steelfiber i95X

659 TC (5-PW) / Aerotech Steelfiber i95X

JB Raw 48* Wedge / KBS Tour 90 Black

JB Raw 54* Full Groove Wedge / KBS Tour 90 Black

I've only got a couple rounds under my belt but so far I'm absolutely loving this set up.

I try not to tinker too much. I'm on a pretty limited budget these days, going back to school and all, so I would rather spend money on green fees over equipment when possible.

For the most part, my gear works pretty well. My irons (OG Ping Raptures) work just perfectly - I have a nice high and straight ball flight with them. My 3W (Callaway Epic Flash SZ turned to 16*) is an absolute weapon, off the tee and the deck. Wedges are Ping Glide 2.0 Stealths, which work great. Putter is an Odyssey White Hot Tour #1, and see no reason to change that. I also carry a Cobra F7 3H, which is a pretty good club, maybe not the absolute best for me but I can work with it. Sometime in the future that will probably get changed out for something else.

Where I've found I want the biggest improvement in my gear is my driver. It's a Ping G30 SFT with TFC419 S shaft. If I am deliberate in putting a smooth swing and tempo on it, its a fairway finder. If I swing out of my shoes, the shaft becomes more unpredictable. My ball flight is also incredibly high, and seems to just drop out of the sky at times. I ordered a pulled Ping Tour 65 S shaft to try out, in hopes of getting my ball flight down. My wife has also recently asked what I want for my birthday, and I think I'm going to ask her for a Ping G400 Max head. When the shaft arrives, I'll play around with it in my driver head and my wife's 10.5 G400 Max head, and see if that's where I need to head.

If I can lower my driver trajectory a bit, I think I can squeeze a lot more out of my current driver (or a G400 Max). Especially a more stable driver shaft that allows me to punch on it a bit. We'll see, I'll be experimenting over the next few weeks.

I got a good deal on a Bridgestone Tour B JGR 7w from Japan. Hit it for the first time today and it's pretty fun. Of all the things I've tried in the 18-22 degree range the 7w has been the most consistent, which is surprising because it's the longest club of everything I've tried (2h, 3h, 2i-crossover, 4w, 3i, 4i). I did try a Thomas Golf 7w and it was super easy to hit, but I play tournament golf and their AT190 line is non-conforming so I returned it.

I really finished the bag in late 2021, but still tinkering as usual. My recent purchases so far for 2022 have been:

GD Tour AD IZ 6x to go into a new Epic Speed 9* head. I was looking for a higher flight with the same head than with my current Rogue White 130 60x.

GD Tour AD IZ 6s to go into my original Epic Speed 10.5* head for next winter. I was using the same Rogue Shaft as above.

Switched golf balls to the Srixon Z-Star Diamond after researching, reading the forum and playing a few rounds with them. This is a good middle ground between the Z Star and XV for me. I primarily play the XV, but in the winter I switch to the Z-Star and prefer the feel of this ball into and around the green. Now, I should not have to switch as long as Srixon keeps manufacturing these balls.

Next purchase will be the Apex UW 21* to pair with my 17* UW GD Tour AD DI 7s. The 21* will kick a hybrid out of the bag. The 17* with it’s versatility currently kicked out my Epic Max 3W. This past week I bought some new head weights for the 17* UW (9g weight) and 3W (variety of weights, but will still add up to original 16g weights) to see if I can get the 3W back in the bag.

Seems to be a never ending path until the wife finds the AMEX bill...

Apex UW’s: 17*-Tour AD IZ 8s, 19* & 21*-Tour AD UB 7x

Wedges: Callaway Jaws MD5 48*S, Jaws MD4 52*S and Jaws Raw Full Toe 58/10

Putter: Toulon Garage Atlanta DB Stroke Lab 34"

Ball: Srixon Z-Star Diamond

Honorable Mention: Paradym Std 3HL (16.5*) - GD Tour AD IZ 7s
