I’m saying the opposite. If the PGA Tour allowed LIV players to play, I don’t see why LIV wouldn’t let them since they let them play on the DP World Tour during off weeks.

I think the PGAT should allow sponsors exemption of LIV players into certain events, like up to 3 per event. Like Valspar, John Deere, cognizant ect. But no sponsors invites to signature events and playoffs.

We assume that the LIV guys are banging down the doors to get in those events.  With 14 contractual and 4 majors, I doubt many of the golfers who would draw any relative interest would even want to play.  Remember - they all signed on to play less golf,  see their family more, and have more time for their charitable efforts.

That’s true, but most have said they would like to play a few big events on the PGA Tour a year if they were allowed to

Some might simply want to boost their OWGR to play in majors.

I dunno. The Euro tour is a bit different. The relationship there doesnt seem as adversarial....they seemed to just throw up their hands and say "do what you want". And due to time zones, the Euro events are mostly missed by the American TV audience, which is what liv seems to covet the most.

I have a hard time believing that liv would want to pay people all that money and then have them turn around and create hype and exposure for the PGAT for free. Kinda seems like that would be a bad look for your business if your highest paid employees are getting more attention for playing a different tour, and bringing more eyeballs to the other tour than they are to yours.

Every player would sign and take the money from liv if they knew they were going to still play the PGAT events of their choosing.

Lets not forget that this is still Normans revenge tour.  Regardless of what he might say, he doesn't want his top talent playing on the PGAT and as soon as liv starts getting OWGR points the players aren't going to want too anyway.

I dont disagree.

No way.  We don't need that kind of drama.  I'm becoming of the opinion that having a Liv player in a tournament is a liability.  Not just to the fans and sponsors but to the PGA players as well.

The last thing a sponsor would want is having a player so disliked that fans are turned off.  I think that tag sticks to the Liv players.  Do they have any sponsors that want to be associated with their tour?

That isn't true.

No.  As has been brought up, several played DPWT events and some played Asian Tour events.

How can you agree with the validity of an absolute statement then disagree with that absolutism of that statement in the latter part of your own?

There are already spots in PGAT taken up by non-PGAT members.  The PGAT actively grants PGAT membership to members of other tours based upon criteria such as placement and international monies won (Hideki as an example).

Firstly, when it comes to playing on other tours, it seems far less rigid than what the PGAT allowed/disallowed.  Secondly, LIV players have played in other tours' events so far from an absolute restriction against such.

I don't care one way or the other at this point but some of the "untruths" (to put it nicely) some of you are coming up with are not bounded in fact.  There is easily seen evidence to the contrary to a good deal of it.  Why not just enjoy more golf or don't watch it if you don't want to?  What do you stand to gain from running more golf on tv or online into the ground?  I don't gain squat from defending it other than I hope the bashing both ways goes away and if it did would go a long way to furthering my enjoyment of this golf chat forum.  I have been coming here less often hoping it would have calmed down but it hasn't.

In general, most LIV players said they went there to play less golf and get paid more. Yes some are playing DPWT events to get OWGR points, but most are playing less golf than they were before LIV.  My main point still stands that LIV players would like to play in a few big non-LIV non-major events a few if they were allowed to. It will be interesting to see if the PIF’s investment in the PGA Tour, should it be allowed by Congress, will allow the tours to mix.

Most of them were saying they did it so they would have more family time.  Absolutely true.

One of the biggest moves LIV Golf made this offseason was bringing in PGA Tour star Jon Rahm. Rahm, the reigning Masters champion, went to the Saudi-backed series in December. But that series apparently hasn’t learned that he goes by “Jon,” not “John.” (Oh, and the “Legion XIII” team he’s on was listed as “Legion XII” in a press release.)

LMREO  -  laughed my rear end off...  🙃

EDIT: Except for the line I have underlined, I didn't write this, it was pulled from an article off of the msn front page.

I try to refrain from arguing semantics, but semantics in this case, or maybe more accurately, word choice, matter immensely.  Probably more in this venue as it is all written word as opposed to spoken where inflection and body language can additionally further one's intentions of speech.

What was a move LIV made that is in the same ballpark as getting Rahm?

Increase interest in the event. Yes. Offering an invite to Cam, Brooks, DJ ect would bring positive attention. They'd probably decline unless it was for a signature event.

Or you could sell so many spots to LIV for their players to play in the events. Put that money into the purses.

I think there could be some creative ways to get these guys together more often.

Seems the "untruths" abound.  But the truth is -  IMO -  it comes from the liv schills more than the non schills. You defending them is going to help calm things down?

You really thought/think that? Really? Really, really?

Here's a fact for you. The liv guys playing in other tournaments is for the purpose of getting OWGR points.
