I've always had a thing for putter's soles.

I really don't know why, but an important reason for choosing to collect or game a putter is the look and information gained by what is displayed on the sole of the putter.

Like say a Cameron Mill Spec giving data with the putters' head gram wt., loft and putter length. This is not at all to say that the putter style, neck, cavity, top line or sight lines are not important considerations when picking a putter. Just wanted to give the putter's sole it's due.

 

May be there is only a model number. May be a cool design logo. May be cool looking removable weights, or a signature, or the head material is declared, or it's beached, or has a limited run number. May be it has a classic statement on it like Art of Putting or sole it's stamped TeI3, Things like that.

 

On the putting green you or your pals don't often see the sole of the putter.

I think the nicest one is my Cody James. Simple but well done, how I usually go about my customs. 

 

 

Most recent was my Coggin and the sole design was "borrowed" from Envroll. This one I just put the specs on in a clean hopefully appealing way. 

 

 

Not all putters are milled and I made sure it was know on my NCW. The print lines and tri sole are a nice touch as well. 

 

 

Sometimes I like them clean and simple like on this Lajosi, don't always have to pick every option when making a putter. 

 

 

Then there are times 1 little mark is all you need. A touch David Mills does on his putters. 

 

 

Not my custom but was owned by me but art and golf can cross paths. 

 

"This is not a putter" 

 

Still don't know if I like sound slots but they definitely look cool. This is a Brandon Matthew No.1 OG made to look like an original Anser I picked up.

 

 

 

Another clean sole, I wasn't quite sure what to put on this KB 9306 so I left it blank on another clean putter build. 

 

 

I do have a few other ideas for potential future putters. If I do another Cody James I have a wild idea for the sole that would turn heads again. But really I don't want to go too crazy cause I was my putter to sit the best it can on the ground.

My 2011 Studio Stock BB8 is actually carbon steel with the FIT face, finished in Borialis Black.

Looks similar to an Oil Can finish, but with more red and purple hues.

 IN terms of density?  I imagine (probably wrongly) that the "metal" is not as condensed or compact as a forged or cast?

Mine has an insert which is also metal which is giving it a bit of click but nothing different than a light milled putter face.

 

I'm not sure what you mean by any of that. 3D printed metal is just as strong as forged, milled or cast metal. It just allowed for more detailed end results that milling can't do or can't do affordably. 3D printed metal just doesn't move well so loft and lie are kinda set on this.

Kind of correct. The Wizard isn’t really a series, just a stamp. It’s a Hive putter which is a 1 of 1 based off of stamps, milling, inserts, etc.

It’s a huge golf ball collector that’s for sure. Horses for courses I guess, I just always played well there. Fit my game and my eye. The 60 broke my own course record of 62. Fun times, my game is no where near that level now.
