Bryson Gaming New Shaft?

Don't bet on it.  Partnerships break up all the time in business.  This one has taken a hit from Bryson and Dustin's move to LIV and Michelle's retirement impacting marketability.  Aside from putter shafts, they haven't gained a whole lot of traction with other product categories in terms of usage by non partnership players.

Fair point.

What's the diff between this and hulk?

Think counterbalanced hulk. That is the biggest difference.

Classic Tour player I'd say. Equipment changes are not uncommon. You'll see guys win and two weeks later they make changes to their bag. Tiger is a rare golfer in that he doesn't mess with his equipment much at all. Look at Rickie Fowler designing his own irons and Cobra releasing them and then he plays them minimally on tour. Justin Rose had his own Honma clubs and then switches out of them. This is not uncommon.

Not bad arguments from you.  Good examples.  The big difference I think I see is that neither Rose or Ricky are partners with the business.  And Ricky is still playing the brand at least.  Bryson makes all his equipment manufacturers bend over backwards (and even owns part of this one!) and then decides not to play it.

I think there is a slight difference, imo.

Yeah according to the Fit2Score charts it has a balance point about 1" to 1.5" higher than the hulk. Nothing crazy, but comfortably in the territory we tend to consider counterbalanced.

Which is why you would think companies would stop doing it. But I guess the potential lure of people buying something is to strong.

Companies shouldn’t stop doing it. It would be worse to stop doing it and then risk that player going somewhere they will get what they want and you miss out.

Does he use the $1500 putter?  Honestly, companies should be making great affordable products to bring more golfers to the game.  I for one am glad this dude is not on reg TV every weekend. I do wanna' try the shaft though.

Taylormade started that, following the « Steve Jobs » exemple. If you want great and affordable golf clubs you’ll just have to wait for 6 months.

Recently mentioned in one of his video that he switched back to some different iron shafts as well. Still looked like LAgolf but a switch none the less. I actually kinda like Bryson though he does make it difficult at times. But I think he needs to focus on being a pro golfer not an influencer or long driver.

I agree. While I find his youtube vids entertaining, I feel like he can win at a high level.

Has not shown that recently. Not even competitive in the fairly weak LIV fields.

The LAGP business model is one where the player buys in and puts significant investment into the product development. Bryson, DJ, Michelle Wie and Duck Commander Willy are all part owners, thus the LAGP = LA Golf Partners. I doubt he's going anywhere.

The problem is they need the retail market to succeed & nobody is gaming their stuff cause it's not that good & very expensive...

Cobra was jumping through hoops with the constant requests from Bryson, wonder if the same thing is happening within LA Golf. The “Texas Rebar” or Trono series is cool for Bryson, but fits about 0.0002% of the hardcore golfing population. Great for an experiment, not great for a business model.

I think people overestimate how much Bryson moves the needle as far as golf equipment is concerned.  Without getting into specifics on how it seems the general golfing population views him, I just don't think people feel the need to copy what he plays.

I do not think it has much to do with his speed or anything either.  Tiger used to be the fastest of the fast and people still wanted to play what he plays.  I think manufacturers quick jumped to him because they thought he would get that same type of carry over - people looking to try one lengths or a specific brand because of him - but I just dont think people really care what he uses, or at least do not care enough to try what he uses.

Lagolf seems to be a mess. Like they hired someone from Wilson golf marketing mess. That being said, I ordered some of their limited release golf balls. Lol..

This company is so bizarre.  Very little they do makes much sense.  They went from repainting Matrix shafts, to making ok expensive shafts, to putters and player named shaft models (that. Said players don’t use), and now balls.

I did order the balls though.

Hard to ignore his lack of success on LIV. If his goal is to win more majors, he should be challenging for wins all the time. If golf were college football, the PGA Tour is the SEC and LIV would be like the Mid America Conference. Quality league, some talented players, could pull the upset, but not probably not able to handle an SEC team because the overall level of play is not as good. LIV has a handful of great players and some names that are bigger than the player’s current skills (Mickelson, Stenson, Poulter, etc), but regardless it’s not a deep league.

There’s only a small group of players who can win and Bryson should be one of them. Hard to know whether it’s merely a bad season or he has dropped a notch, but I figured he’d be a beast against the LIV fields. Two top 10s, zero top 5s in six events — I would have bet money he’d do better than that. His last seven PGA Tour events? Zero top 10s, four missed cuts. His lone strong event was T8 at The Open — on a very tame, short-playing St. Andrews.
