There will now be a short - or more likely long - intermission. I've just returned from a seniors class at the local golf centre to find the postie had delivered my reading homework. I'm about to open my shiny new copy of the Official Guide to the Rules of Golf 2023.

Is at least redlined with some release notes?  Or do you have to read side by side and note the changes?

Prepare for a BIG , BIG  disappointment- akin to waiting for Xmas as a child and receiving only a pair of socks.

I'm sure there is a way to electronically compare two pdf documents for differences and create a third pdf with those differences.

While not quite the same, I got the TARS Preparation Guide today. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy of the actual new rule book before taking the test. 🙂 

 

As the seminar was cancelled the previous years, they're expecting a whole lot of interest towards it this winter and changed it so that you need to take the exam online beforehand and pass it in order to get invited to St. Andrews.

Sure, but whether they are publicly available is another story, hopefully they will be when time comes. And in the printed copy changes are not highlighted in any way, only the principal changes are listed, all the other changes you need to find yourself (and they are abundant...).

The new Rules book has a short summary of a few moderately significant changes, there's nothing really major.  I haven't seen the new Official Guide yet, hopefully it will come soon.

I actually googled 2023 rules changes and this popped up again.Totally forgot I read it (on April 1st) and I had a WTF moment reading the first part, before I looked at the article date.

Seems there are still no electronic copies available yet? My print version may be on my doorstep at home but I'm a long way from home for some days yet.

The "principal changes"  and a couple of  "general changes" are listed and briefly explained.   There is a list 20 new Clarifications followed by about 7 pages of  Clarifications (previously Interpretations) which have been withdrawn together with a note on each as to what rule or Definition  now covers it. Then a  short list of amendments to Committee Procedures  and another of new Model Local Rules.`

Any headscratchers?  I know that generally you guys and gals just align with the RoG 100%, but would be interesting to hear if when you read the new Clarifications, you ever think, "Hmmmm, that is odd..."
