What Golf Trips Have You Got Planned for Next Year?

Any advice on a course to play enroute from OHare to Milwaukee?
Also it would be cool to have one between Arcadia and SouthBend.

From O'Hare to Milwaukee I would recommend Lac La Belle in Oconomowoc. It is maybe 25 minutes west of MKE and easy to get to from Illinois using the bypass.

Between South Bend and Arcadia is Harbor Shores but I would not consider that a between course. It is vastly closer to Indiana than it is to Arcadia. Jack Nicklaus course that hosts the Senior PGA. Big fan of both.

First day played Coyote Springs…

I don’t think I would play here again, for a few reasons -

1) It’s almost an hour from Mesquite, pretty much out by itself in the middle of nowhere

2) All the infrastructure, clubhouse, “restaurant”, etc are still temporary buildings. I guess the planned development has been held up for quite a while, so really nothing there except the course

3) When I was there, it was still coming out of winter conditions. Fairways were slick & compressed , like greens almost, every lie tight like hitting off a pool table, greens weren’t in great shape

4) Finally, I had a 9:30 tee time, but there was an estimated 45 minute frosr delay, driving range & putting greens closed as well. Then, just as the driving range opened & I was about to warm up, they hustled me out to a now 9:40 start, so no warming up at all. You can’t hear any of the announcements at the driving range

Second day I played the Palmer course at Oasis & really enjoyed that. Rough was dormant & brown, but fairways & greens were in nice shape, has some interesting holes that play into canyons with elevated tee boxes, overall a good time

When I go back, I’ll give Coyote Springs a miss, play both courses at Oasis, Conestoga, maybe Falcon Ridge, Wolf Creek.

Next trip is Scottsdale for a couple weeks at the end of March, putting together a course list to play & start making tee times soon👍

Mesquite is very casino-centric, not much to do there, nor mant restaurants, coffee shops, etc outside of the casinos.

Thanks for the review. We are aware of the lack of infrastructure and location of Coyote Springs as we played there a couple years ago. It's like the course time forgot. Lol. Too bad the course isn't in good shape. It's a tough track.

I've never played the Oasis courses. We're playing the Canyon Sunday and Palmer the following Friday. Glad to hear they are green, where they should be.

This is my groups 3rd trip to Mesquite, my 2nd. We don't mind driving to play as we're doing 2 courses up in St. George, Utah next week too. About an hour from Mesquite. Sand Hollow is an experience. This will be our first time playing Copper Rock.

I agree about Mesquite not having a lot to do outside of the casinos. That's fine by me.

Hoping the forecast changes, we weren't planning on 50s for this trip. Normally it's high 60s to mid 70s.

Taking my dad on the following trip next month for his 60th. Flying across from Scotland so really looking forward to it.

TPC Sawgrass, Dye's Valley, Harbour Town, Palmetto Dunes RTJ Course, Ocean Course Kiawah and Cougar Point. Also doing Tuesday and Thursday at The Masters to finish it off.

Anyone have a recommendation for another course at Hilton Head? We have a free day and doesn't seem like theres overly much to do in the area.

hilton head national is a fun course in the area. Doesn't cost too much and is a blast to play

Starting to plan a 3 week 2024 trip to the Great Lakes, ie circumnavigate Lake Michigan from Chicago up through Wisconsin then down through Michigan and Indiana. Key courses are Erin Hills, W’Straits , S’Valley, Greywalls, Belvedere, Forest Dunes, Arcadia Bluffs, Warren Course and Cog Hill.
Any advice on a course to play enroute from OHare to Milwaukee?

The Bull is a wonderful course. You should consider adding it to your trip.

  • 2 weeks later...

2 trips planned for this year. Masters this year and we're flying into Charlotte and playing Southern Pines and Mid-Pines before making our way to Augusta.

Then at the end of August I'm heading to Ireland. We're playing Tralee, Dooks, Old Head, Ballybunion Lahinch, Carne, RCD, Portrush.

It will be my first time in Ireland and I'm really looking forward to it. We have a great group of guys going so I'm sure it will be a ton of fun regardless of the golf.

We have a golf trip coming up at the end of this week to Myrtle Beach. Just want to use this space as a therapy session as my game is in the absolute toilet and I am stuck in between about 5 feels/release patterns/etc. I am not the kind of person who can enjoy "just being outside and playing golf" I have to be hitting it well. My main goal now is to make sure I don't get mad (I rarely do) and make sure I don't ruin anyone else's trip. Just keep quiet and know that I am going to absolutely suck and try to enjoy the time with the guys and just think about golf as a leisure activity and not some validation of me as an athlete.

Thanks for letting me vent. 😬
