so aaron judge is hurt and unavailable for the rest of this weekend at least. 

 

the yankees call up a lefty outfielder and in the first inning of his first game…he crashes into the left field wall and gets hurt and has to come out of the game. 

 

you can’t make this stuff up. 

 

im gonna go polish up the cleats and stretch. i’m probably getting called up any day now. 😂😂

i should amend my statement.

 

their classic looking shoes are very nice, they’re just not my personal style for the course. 

 

their more athletic looking offerings are very ugly though.

On the golf shoe thing I have worn every kind over the years. For a while I wore Chucky Taylor Converse high tops because of ankle issues. Back in the day it was always FJs because my old man ran a course and was a FJ dealer. The past few years it has been Nike not because I particularly liked them but they were free. The Pro at my old course was a Nike staffer then he switched. His shoe size is the same as mine as in 13W so I got like 6 pairs from him for nothing. I finally wore them out. During my recovery due to my feet swelling etc I wore Skechers. They were great and I wore out 2 pairs. My current course started selling the Skoni brand which come to find out is made locally in Charleston SC. They are similar to shoes called Hey Dude which are excellent. I bought a pair of the Skoni on a whim and I will tell you they are the best shoes I have had on my feet. Even though they have the nubby spikes I wear them all the time. I was so impressed that I bought the last 3 pairs in 13 that my course had.

 It's very cool that I have experience so much in my 4+ decades in golf.  When I started this grand game metal spiked leather shoes, wood woods, blades, and balata balls were the standard. 💪

I would think that with the power you swing a golf club you would require spiked golf shoes. I'm surprised you can stay firmly planted through impact in tennis shoes.

On getting old Yep me too and you have to remember those old FJ Classics had real thick real leather soles and of course metal spikes. The uppers were also real leather too. I remember when they came out with a synthetic "leather" called Corafam or something like that. That stuff would not breathe and my feet would get real hot and break out on the top. They were a demo pair that did the same thing to my old man. He told the rep they were junk

True story.  I told my mom I was going to try out for the golf team in college as a senior.  The coach asked me, I played a number of guys on the team and he was looking for 4 or 5 player.

 

”Mom, I need golf shoes.”  I played barefoot to date, regardless of temperature.

 

Mom, “No, make the team them we will buy them.”

 

Show up (in the winter) to tryout after getting the letter asking me to show up.  Hair to my shoulder blades, I kick off the Birkenstocks to hit some balls.  I was wearing seersucker shorts so I looked like a golfer.

 

Barefoot I set up.  The coach says says to me, “Is this a joke?  Come back when you’re serious (or something like that).”  I never hit a ball, he threw me out.

 

PK and Tim were like WTF dude, why didn’t you even try out, we put our names the line?  I explained the situation, PK says to me, “Never even occurred to me.”  I got another letter from the coach two days later but it was too late.  My ego wouldn’t let me do it.

 

So dumb now.

Ohhh seriously do not do that. A friend of mine in Charlotte used to play barefoot all the time. I do not think he ever owned a pair of golf shoes until he got sick. He got very sick and was sick for 6 months or more. The Docs could not figure out what was wrong with him and this was in the late 90s. Then they figured it out he had some kind of intestinal parasite. They think it came from being on the golf course barefoot stepping in Goose poop. It took him almost a year to recover. When he finally got able to play golf again he wore golf shoes
