We already have the "its just an anser!" crowd with anything Scotty related and now we have to deal with the Tyne guys too (Pretty sure Odyssey created the fang style btw).

Obviously the welds on these putters are some of the least mechanically critical welds ever laid, but IMO for the money they should look better. That being said, people buy them as fast as they can and flaunt their "weld necks", so the majority isn't quite as detail oriented as all of us. I'm simply used to seeing welder's paid $100K+/year and you will only find them "stacking dimes" on weld neck flanges and other piping components. All of that being said, I don't have any pictures of "perfect" welds on a putter I can reference, even Lamb putters have some questionable looking welds from an aesthetics POV

 

And I'm under no illusion, I could not personally achieve the weld quality I desire on a putter. Only on a Solidworks drawing lol

Agree to disagree I guess. I don’t personally think they look bad. I think some prefer the tiny “ pencil tip” welds seen in some putters.  I don’t personally like those.  Too cute and minimal.  I like the down and dirty look.  “ tools not jewels “ look.  Occasionally  you’ll see one where they welded the neck on and didn’t refinish after. And the heat discoloring remains. I like that the best.  It’s says “ my goal was a putter that works , once it did I’m finished “.  I understand how that’s not a popular opinion.   But in the guy who also loses interest in a half million dollar car the minute it’s painted.  I absolutely love the raw aluminum look.  I detest the finished , painted trailer queen look.  But I build them anyway.
 

This one in particular has one obvious flaw. And it’s the last arc where the person joined the start and finish. There’s a little inclusion , or bubble where they didn’t circle back and catch the putter head low enough with the filler wire .   Yes. This would make it fail a visual inspection for a structural test. But we both know that if stressed , the neck will snap off before the weld breaks. So it’s failing is more about liability than actual weakness.  But like you said. That ain’t the application here.   
 

we’re literally arguing over what looks the best . Not quality.  Because we just established that the quality of the self is sufficient to outlast the two attached parts in a stress test.  So the quality is there.  Just some don’t prefer the industrial look.

No issue with the welds but of all the things like being overpriced for name only, purposeful feature-withheld, purposeful scarcity, cheap material, shoddy assembly-line quality of retail releases (not unexpected, given), logo-ladden, corner-cutting presented as 'new features', and etc etc to complain about - welds on one-offs are not one of them.

None of that is untrue. But it’s also true of odyssey.  And I don’t hate them either.  I have a two ball ten S in hand with a stroke lab shaft. There’s more logos on it than a nascar drivers suit.  Even has the mag wheel weights. Lol.    I haven’t taken the plastic. Off the head , but it does appear to be scratch free as far as I can tell. We all followed that Rahm release thread and saw that they all fall short of Ping in reality.

Seems like DJ is really searching for something. Looks like he went from his blacked out Spider to the 5.5 and now the GT. He's playing decent enough and loitering around the leaderboard.
