I'm guessing he likes the blades for the course in front of him....more spin probably, being able to flight with a tighter window or something along those lines.  It will be very fast, dry, and firm.

With his continued swing changes it’s not a surprise. With his old swing he probably had the highest ball flight on tour delivering a lot of dynamic loft, now that he’s shallowing out his attack angle he has less dynamic loft through impact which has lowered spin rates so more spin will get things back in the right windows.

I'm wondering if the change is due to the conditions at LACC.  Walking the grounds yesterday the fwys are very tight.  Seems much better suited for a blade rather than CB or MC.

It’s a pretty significant change for a single week, especially at a major. It seems more likely to me that it’s related to his swing changes and optimizing all flight characteristics rather than addressing a single issue like spin or turf conditions.

Morikawa changed irons the week of the Open and won it, partially due to turf conditions, I believe.

You’d be correct. He got custom MBs now so he doesn’t have to switch.

A little different as he didn’t change his set completely. He swapped out his short irons from the 730s to the P7MCs, which he was already playing in the mid irons. So he was already playing P7MCs so the adjustment was quick and swift. The MCs are lower bounce than the blades so it allowed his strike to be higher on the links turf

He's played TT DG X7 for a long time.  Can't imagine him changing shafts too.

The way the rough looks I could see wanting a sharp, small blade for that.  Tight fairways and I can understand why he might want a some legit blades.
