Will Golf Channel ever get rid of Brandel Chamblee?

And first to many instructors.  Who else provides insightful swing analysis on TV?

Well your post that I replied to didn’t mention anything about swing analysis on TV. Seemed like you were implying that he was the most knowledgeable golf instructor there is. At least that’s how it was stated.

Hmmm, my post that you just quoted?   I quoted you “Brandel Chamblee‘s knowledge of the golf swing is second to many instructors.”

And I said “first to many instructors”.  IOW he’s better than some and some are better than him.

Brandel is going nowhere.  At least he provides insight.  Sure his style is somewhat brash at times but at least he remains true to himself.

The rest of the commentators are like groupies or school kids.

Yes. When I make the mistake of comparing him to Henry Longhurst or Renton Laidlaw or Dave Marr or Judy Rankin, I get annoyed and tired of him. But when I compare him to modern day sports broadcasters (from all the sports, not just golf) and all the so-called 'insiders' and 'colour commentators' and oestensibly expert analysts, with their faux outrage and hot takes and banalities and charmless banter, BC strikes me as true lover of golf and highly knowledable -- committed and serious-minded and hard-working and essentially honest, ie as you say, true to himself. I even admire his hutzpah to challenge/ criticize the game's greats despite the fact that he only won one tournament, and that one was the BC Open. I mean, not to disparage anyone with the talent to even get to the Tour, let alone win on that tour -- but he always ready to pontificate as if expecting that we're listening to him like we would to Johnny Miller or Sir Nick Faldo or Lee Trevino. And I don't even listen to Ian Baker Finch the way I used to listen to those guys!

Actually it was the Air Canada Championship, a regular PGA tour event that year, not an alternate event.  Payne Stewart was runner up.  The BC open was a Canadian tour event, not a PGAT event.

You forgot Peter Aliss.  😉

I doubt he’s putting all or any of his effort into that he has to be “like” them, or expecting we’re going to think he is.

He's just speaking his well researched and knowledgeable mind. He does get ranting occasionally , but I don’t mind that, good to hear instead of the all too regular clickbait commentating.   He is refreshing compared to most, if not all, of the present day commentators.  Makes one think.

And yes, IBF is, for the most part, pablum.

Mostly I agree with your take.  Thx.

Those instructors aren't working as commentators.  The discussion is about television coverage.

What are your thoughts on Morgan Pressel? Not a trick question, I'm not a big fan just wanted to get your take on her.

Here is my take.  To me, being a commentator is about making comments.

Far too often, Morgan tags on to a solid comment with extra information (she believes to be insightful) that to me (the viewer) is unnecessary, ultimately diluting the intent of her original thought.  In other words, she gets lost in the soup trying to educate the audience.  Her voice is a bit annoying but I don't have to live with her.  And to my knowledge she does not have a very extensive art collection.  Not a fan.

Uh, no. The BC Open was a longtime event on the PGA Tour held in Endicott, NY. But you are correct that BC did win the Air Canada Championship in British Columbia.

I like chamblee perspectives. He makes golf channel interesting. Would be quite boring with a robot up there praising everyone.

Like him. Miss Miller. Could not stand Azinger. Wish Eamon Lynch was a broadcaster; (wow, would that add spice). My dream foursome? 19th hole with Miller, Lynch and Don Cherry with alternates Chamblee and Greg Zahn. What a round table would that be.

I like Chamblee except when he repeats his murderous regime SOP playbook. Other than that he does a good job and brings up some points nobody else does. The one that stood out to me is the Bryson swing wanting to be really in to out players don't play well at Augusta historical due to hook lies. It was a great segment on Thursday night.

Just some  food for thought for those who think that Brandel’s career was irrelevant.
I mean, the guy had 350 PGA tour starts. If that doesn’t qualify him to have an opinion about professional golf I don’t know what does.

He doesn't think sometimes, and that due to his hatred toward LIV. He has posted a foolish tweet on how the LIV golfers were +82 at the Masters...well Brandel, 5 USA Ryder Cup boys were at +41 at the halfway mark...Spieth +9, Harman +9, Burns +9, Thomas +7, Clark +7.....all missed the cut. Just a fool in my eyes.

This is correct. Brandel can't get over how golf has changed.

I am sure Paul doesn't really care. He already won at life.
