All,

Does anyone have any recommendation on an online putting coach?

I'm struggling putting. For some reason, I struggle to take the putter back and it gets hung up on the ground. Very odd, but this has never happened till recently.

I've seen Marcus Potter recommended before.  And one of my buddies did an online lesson with him a few years ago.

But if your really struggling with putting.  You don't need to see the best putting coach available.  You probably need help with your setup and basic movements.  Hitting the ground on the way back, sounds like you have some lateral movement with poor shoulder tilt at address.  Also would want to confirm your lower body is still.

@MonteScheinblum or @iacas would also be able to help get you straightened out.

It's not really hitting the ground on the way back, it's like I can't take the putter away because it's like I press it hard into the ground. The way to stop it is to hover the putter.

It's still the same thing.  Putter is moving down on the way back, that's why you can't move it off the ball to begin with.

You need a good foundation.  Good setup / posture / alignment.  You most likely have a setup issue where your shoulders, spine, head or all 3 tilt away from target too much.  I'd start with just getting your head straight, very easy to start titling it away from target little by little.  Feeling 60% of your weight on lead side would be a good feel as well.

And if you don't want to do a lesson.  Just post a vid.  Simple setup adjustments can improve putting very easily.

Just hover it then or keep it very lightly on the ground. I just saved you money.

Not if you keep working at it.

That's the amateur way.  Keep grinding on unnecessary compensations.

Not being able to pull the putter away without hovering is a red flag.

Preferring to hover because you can feel the weight or just feels good to you is different.

I agree 100% with this. There is a reason I can't pull back the putter without getting it stuck. I've never had this issue until as of late.

Sounds to me like you are gripping the putter to hard which is causing tension in your arms.

He said himself it's like he presses it into the ground too much.

That’s a fair amount of hip movement and weight shift for such a shirt putt and big time holding face open and going outside the target line

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Relax your brain, your body is locked up which throws off the sequence and rhythm of your stroke.

Just like in the golf swing the putting stroke works best when it's smooth and flowing not stiff and mechanical. Putting is so subjective that people should go with whatever works for them however I've never seen a great putter with stiff as a board tension in their bodies.

Narrow your stance and let your weight favor your left side. You're releasing the putter head a little better but you're getting in your own way by moving the handle as if you're trying to keep the head low to the ground. Instead you should be focused on swinging the putter head in an arc like a pendulum.

It's different for different people but for me the sequence is hand (dorsal flex), arm and shoulder to get the putter head swinging in an arcing motion. It's like tossing a ball to a kid and since I'm relaxed my lower body flows with that if it needs to.

I read this article as I need to try to hook putts. Would you agree?
