PXG 0311 T Comparisons

Recommended Posts

I know I should get fit, but I don't have access to a reliable fitter within 2 hours of where I live so I've had to predominantly use trial and error as my guide when buying clubs.

I'm very intrigued by the PXG 0311 T, but have not hit it. What current irons would you compare it to? i525? P770s? T100?

I currently game the '21 T100 and love the look but could probably use a touch more forgiveness.

Thanks.

It's a touch smaller though. I'd say its a hybrid of T100 and P770.

Edit: my opinion is that it's an S55 with goo.

That's one way to think about but the new 770's are more compact than the originals. I also think they're more forgiving (less workable?) than PXG T irons. But still very similar make up. Neither is very soft feeling or explosive off the face.

I really liked the ease of the long irons in the P770, but the short irons launched too high for me. How’s the PW and 9 iron in the 0311T?

If you’re considering the Ts, might be worth waiting to see if the 0317T come to market.

Similar cosmetics to the 0317ST, but presumably more friendly, what with the Goo and some tungsten.

The T is the modern day evolution of the s55. The 0317T is scheduled to be released 9/19. Gen3 & Gen5 T are the best T models they have made, followed closely by Gen4.

I’m not sure they should evolve it that much. I’d say the goo makes it a different category.

The CB is very S55-like.

The 23's fixed that by placing the weight higher in head on short irons, and lower in long irons.

How do you know about the 0317T? I don't see any release info. I'm looking for an iron similar to the looks of p770/0311T/0317ST with the goo and all and it seems this might be a good fit.

Little birdies talk….😄

I saw it for myself on the PXG order page.  No price listed, had a SKU number and availability date of 9/19.  I don’t know if that is a release date, pre-order date, Heads available date or what.  But, it sure looks like they are coming soon.

Since you said you like the look of the T100, if looks are very important to you then I doubt you’ll like looking at the 0311T.

Visual differences:

Offset

Overall Size

Top Line

General Shape

Finish

Bottom Groove Painted White

Basically everything visually is different, so depends on how much it matters. There’s also a lot more bounce in PXG.

I love my 0211ST set but I blend in different long irons. I did an identical build on a set of T100S irons for some reason and I wound up selling them right away. Same performance on my best strikes, inferior feel (to me) on all strikes, and overall less confidence at address. I find the T100 line to be a beautiful club that I love in pictures but it just didn’t translate to real life.

Yep, got confirmation today - $169 / club, same specs as the 0311 Gen 5 T, pre-orders start today.  I will place my order for them in the morning.

I had heads in my hand today.  They are small.  Look like a mix between the 0317 CB and the 0311T in size but the 0317 ST aesthetics.

So larger than the 0317CB but smaller than the Gen 5 T? That sounds nice. Always thought the past T heads looked great in photos but in hand were a little bigger than I expected them to be.

I would say that is fairly accurate.  I don't have too much experience with the 0317CB as I rarely pull it from its holder and I am definitely not good enough to hit it.  Closest I would say visually to me was T100 or a slightly smaller ZX7/Pro 223.

I haven’t seen the 0317T in person, but I have read they have a slightly longer blade length and thinner top line than the 0317CB, with a narrower sole than the 0311T.

the 0317T also has a different goo inside compared to the 0311T.

Ended up grabbing a new set of the Gen 4s at $119 a club. Previously had the gen3 and loved them, regretfully sold them. Don’t care for the looks of the 5s with the black on there. Hoping these 4s will be a nice feel and fit

I’m interested in them as well. Please update on your experience once you get them!
