Best rain gear for under $1000?

Looking for some rain gear I can play 2 rounds a day at Bandon for 3 days straight.

 

I have super baggy old school Zero Restriction pants. Would love something more modern. Was looking at the Sun Mountain Cirque pants and jacket.

 

What the best bang for the buck? I have $1K in shop credit and would like to get some nice rain gear.

I think Galvin Green is known to have some really good rain gear.  All I know is that buying their stuff will not leave you with too many issues about using up that credit.

 

I think most companies make good stuff, it's just a question of which fits you.

Do they have quiet rain gear?   I hate the feel and sound of crinkly rain gear.

Get a Galvin Green jacket. Accept no substitute! 
 

Then whatever is left, get the best pants you can. Sunice is pretty good, Sun Mountain is Ok. Just say no to Nike, Adidas, UA, their rain gear sucks. 
 

The jacket is where you want to spend.

Kjus has excellent options as well. I have the Kjus Gemini jacket and the Galvin Green Archie jacket that I alternate.

Go to basspro and get frogg togg jacket and pants, use the other 900 on a new stealth/ventus combo.

Galvin Green if you are a skinny guy.

 

Sunice if you are a bigger guy.   Like me.  I also have FJ gortex stuff, but Sunice is a touch less baggy and far better quality IMO.

I decided a few months ago to get my winter golf gear in the summer sales and this is what I went for; used them all in perfect English weather and all products work as intended perfectly. I particularly like the trousers as you can wear them as normal golf trousers and they fit nicely

Unfortunately, I don't really have a waterproof bag (2018 Ping Hoofer) but I don't really carry much in my bag in the rain, and my valuables pocket still keeps the wet out

I have a Sun Mountain Cirque suit - its fantastic. Lightweight, has a little stretch and friendly on the budget. Wore mine in Scotland back in May everyday and it worked like a dream.

Pro quip are good bang for buck, but the sleeves are a little on the short side if you are tall

Can you explain the proquip sizing to me like I’m 5? Rain/winter gear is new for me as most of my golf has been played in AZ. The lengths on all of their trousers seems on the short side I’m sure I’m missing something on the measurement style.

Here you go. Just measure your chest, waist, and inseam then look in the chart to get your size. One thing they do is that they offer the pants in different lengths so there is no need to hem them after purchase.

The leg length was throwing me off it only went up to 33 on the bundle packages I was seeing and the sizing guide wouldn’t pull up on the mobile completely.

 

I normally wear a 34 but I think the 33 will be just fine. Seems like the best bang for the buck I’ll be placing my order and hoping for some weather to get to put them to use, between sunny and 75 days of course 😅

I bought a sunice rain suit and have loved it. Very flexible, not too bulky and solid protection. Not to mention that it is gortex and breaths really well.

I like the idea of a Hood option.  Any of brands being discussed offer that?

I bought a Zero Restrictions Goretex Tour Jacket and matching Goretex pants back in late 1999.  Yep, you read that right, been wearing them for 24yrs, and never a problem.  They cost $700+ then, still stylish, and look relatively new today.  Every so many years, my wife washes and reconditions them.  I also use the jacket on cold nights in the mountains.  You get what you pay for.
