Golf Bag recommendation

Recommended Posts

I am in the market for a new bag. I want something that is not like “every other bag”, I want it to have some uniqueness and flair. I carry sometimes, so not trying to go crazy heavy. I do like a lot of storage though. What are your favorite bags and why?

The Sun Mountain mid stripe line has a fairly sophisticated look, the typical SM light weight and functionality, and virtually no branding.

Nothing has more flair than a Scotty Cameron pathfinder stand bag.  Light, comfortable and plenty of storage.

Have a Jones Utility and like it quite a bit. The Trouper would be a model with even more storage.

The 2023 Titleist Links Legends bags while pricey, check off all the boxes.  Light and well balanced/ comfortable walking, flashy and understated in the white and blue/ black/ green color ways and are great travel bags.

and Titleist will monogram for you

Ogio Silencer bag has been amazing for me, a lot of storage, super quiet with the individual club holders limiting the clanking between clubs. Had a previous problem with an Ogio cart bag as it wouldn't stand upright, this old they fixed that issue.

MNML MV2 golf bag fits the unique requirement.  I have my eye on this, but waiting for a bigger option than the 4 way divider.

No zippers, just magnets for pockets.

Extra tech like solar power charger and speaker.

Customizable.

The bag I use now is fairly unique.  OGIO Woode 8 Hybrid bag.  Although, I tend to not recommend it.

Some of the pockets have a quick access that you can reach in and grab something without needing to open the zipper.  I think they put in one of those snap bracelets to make it close quickly.  It's a cool feature... until it breaks.  The ball and tee holders are useful.  Plenty of storage.  The club holders have a unique shape where it's partially individual, while some hold multiple clubs.  Ultimately, it doesn't help the clubs stay where they are supposed to and you do get some club tangling.

Is MNML going to make a 6 way?

Bennington with the quiet organizer. Helps you spot missing clubs quickly and heads don't clank around. Its not a carry bag, but it is a really nice cart bag.

I saw these at Golf Galaxy. They are quite nice. The expensive bag category has a had a bunch of new entrants this year.

I don’t know that they are all that unique, but I have a Vessel Player III and a VLS and love them both. If you want really unique, Ace of Clubs does some pretty cool custom bags.

How does the VLS hold up in a cart? The top looks quite small.

Huge fan of Jones bags.  Especially the Trouper (it's recycled) and roomy with loads of flair.  In fact, you can pick your zipper pull colors which is cool

I rarely use it in a cart as I got it specifically to carry, but it has been ok the handful of times I have ridden with it. I do have a cart strap sleeve that I use with it - the Vessel bag material can get chewed up a bit by cart straps if you ride frequently.

Have a white player 3.  Probably 200 rounds in. Mostly cart in summer and walking other 3 seasons.  Held up pretty good.  One zipper pull fell off and the felt around the top is showing wear.  But I have pulled clubs out 20,000 times so whatever.

Now looks like beat up old friend.  Dirty and stained and I still love it.  Dumbest water bottle pockets ever.  Good place for a phone though.

A little on the heavy side, but has the BEST SHOULDER STRAP SYSTEM EVER.

If you carry a lot the straps just go on easy every time.  Never tangled or can't find the left one or inside out.  Just works and the padding in the straps is still good.

Very happy with the purchase and no regrets.  Because it was so expensive I spent the first few months wiping and cleaning and getting mad at a scuff here and there.  Then I succumbed to the tools-not-jewels philosophy and embrace the character.  Bag room guys like it because they can find it easily and think it is cool and different.

Have the 6 way and no issue with 14 clubs with midsize grips.  Would probably prefer a 4 way but I am used to it.

Another vote for the Jones Trouper bags, I love mine. Huge cooler compartment you can use for balls or drinks, and a nice compact-ish size with still plenty of room for 14 clubs.

How does the exterior pedal that activates the legs do on a push cart? And how well does the bag do on a riding cart?

I haven't had a chance to try them on either type of cart yet, likely will be stuck with sim golf until April-ish in Canada.
