Got to test the darkspeed ls 9.0 in the linq white 6x. Felt incredible off the face, very soft. Initial swings were good but the harder I went at it I was having the face deflect up and it had too much launch. Linq white felt way softer than the kali white or 1x white (but quite smooth). Need a diff shaft and likely lower loft to dial this in as a gamer but it launched 13-14 and was fast. 165-168 bs in the cold.

The 3hl is a tremendous offer. Anyone get to hit it yet?  How’s it look? Spin and launch?  Still not many reviews up

I'll hitnit soon. My only complaint about the aerojet std 15 is that it launches low. If the 16.5 launches high and has speed and is tight on dispersion like the aerojet then I could give it a go. 

 

Paradym 3d set to 16 has something to say about it tho.

The King LTD might be the most underrated fairway of all time. It’s the perfect combo of off the ground, off the tee club. I compare it to the Ping G400 LST in the driver. It was forgiving and long, a jack of all trades. 
 

it’s very interesting what you had to say about the Dark Speed LS and the Max considering that you have such discerning taste.

Hit the ds std 3w. It's bigger than the aerojet. I had to put a 15g weight in it to get swingweight somewhat right. I don't like it. It's super spinny.

 

When I hit aerojet std 3w last year I never saw a ton of spin. I didn't care for the looks or spin profile of ds. I didn't even try the 3hl given how much the std was already spinning.

They are hollow heads with design much like PXG 0311 irons...thin face, hollow with filler and weight insert (inside the head).

ive hit the ls fairway quite alot the last week at our shop. Can not compete on speed compared to the qi10 tour or the ping g430 lst wood. Solid 5-7 mph slower for me. Insanely low spinning though. Average over a set of 20ish balls was 2100.

5-7 mph slower is massive and likely a contact issue. Could be a bad fit with the shaft? I have seen a few reviews with the Aerojet LS fairway where they couldn't spin it enough and had low ball speed. Have the Aerojet LS myself and never found a significant ball speed disadvantage to anything else, but it did take me a long time to get it dialed in.

I was able to hit the ds ls yesterday with my gamer shaft (since I have a std aerojet). Ds ls wasn't slow. It competed with aerojet std and paradym 3d on ballspeed. 

 

But, I owned stealth2+ 3w for a bit last year and it was faster than std aeroejt by 2-3 mph consistently. So I could see the ds ls being slower than qi10 tour by 2-3. But definitely not 7-10. Cobra wouldn't have released a premium priced Ti head with that kind of ballspeed.

How was the launch and spin? Pretty low?

I play ventus black 7x in 3w and swing 3w 100-103.

 

Darkspeed ls 3w comes with 15gx15g front and 3g back. I would never play that config. Since I had all of the fitting heads at my disposal, I pulled 1 15g weight out and put in an 8g. I moved the other 15g weight to the back. So I was 8gx3g toe biased and 15g back. That left me a solid 10g short of d4 if stock headweights are the same as last year. I also had the 3+ turned up 1.5 degrees since cobra messed up and didn't send the 14.5 to this retailer. 

 

So, a light setup at 14.5...launch was barely 8*, which was about 2 degrees lower than aerojet std with the same shaft. 

 

Long way of saying, don't trust my numbers since the config was all jacked up.

Haha, that's fair.  Honestly, I just need to give up on the idea of playing a lower launching ball speed monster of a 3w.  I have plenty of speed and can get by with something like the G430 Max.  Easy to hit and get in the air.  But, it can balloon on me a little bit.  Hasn't been a major issue as of yet but I don't hit a lot of 3w off the deck.  Off the tee, it's manageable.  Definitely not the longest, but long-ish.  

 

The sexy deep face rocket launcher 3w is nice.  But, I need more than a one trick pony.  And, I am just not good enough with 3w in my hands to make that club work off a tee and the deck.  One day. I have tried making them work with higher launching shafts that don't really mesh well with my swing.  Sacrificing that performance off the tee to try to make it work off the deck.  

 

Maybe I will put in the work and figure it out.  Until then, it's only a dream ha.

I really like non LS model 3w. I like a bit of spin so I can have my preferred shaft reduce it. I want naturally high launch and 3500ish spin before my shaft goes in. I want 2800-3100 spin with my shaft. 

 

A little trick to try...shorten your preferred shaft. Then add lead tape to the dead center of that ping. Get the swingweight back up to d3/4 using lead tape after you shorten the shaft to 43". I have found just 4-5g of lead tape can alter spin a good bit (200-400 rpm).

Yeah, it's bigger than aerojet, front to back. I had my ventus black in it with a 15g backweight and it was spinning 4000. Every standard cobra 3w has been super spinny for me except aerojet. 

 

I didn't care for it...I'd have to reduce the backweight and add lead tape forward. I didn't see enough good from it to warrant buying it to experiment.

Jealous of weight availability.  I’d like to bump the DS LS driver head up a few grams (which I will do with lead tape in the short term), but I’d like to get my hands on a couple weight for that driver!  I like D4-5.5 for my driver.

Unfortunately we would be unable to build a Darkspeed one length set with the "variable" length heads. Our Darkspeed one length heads are different weights, compared to our variable length heads which will then lead to decreased performance.” 🙁
