messing around with the 8 degree LS with the linq white x stiff.   I think a fair number of reviews I have read/watched moved the 12g weight to the back position, and having 3 and 3 up front.   I ended up doing this as well  and it seems to perform a bit better (but of course raises spin numbers accordingly).   While I understand the logic of having more weight up front (it is an LS model after all), I don't get the logic of putting 3 grams in the fade position and 4x more weight in what is really the draw position and label that position as "neutral"?    I would like to think they have a good reason, and maybe the internal weighting within the shell bears this out, but it still feels to me that the "neutral" position is really the draw position. 

 

Other than that... I am not a fan of the linq shaft.  at all.   Putting a Ventus black 6x in it asap.

Because the head has a natural fade bias, and weighting it that way brings it to neutral.

makes sense... I guess I'm just accustomed to seeing (even in LS type of heads), any weight or slider in that position is labelled "draw".   I will add that once I moved the 12 in the back, it did straighten out a bit.   The first couple swings had a bit more left in them than I wanted

Man I’d try the new 3d putters in a heartbeat if they didn’t have dlt, like if attack angle is consistent but if you miss different parts of the face then you are changing the loft…

I was going to buy the dark speed irons until I saw the video about the wear and tear. Those look pretty bad for not even being gamed for over 2 weeks.

its the second time this has been noticed in a review , i mentioned it before on a cobra thread  doesn't look good

I bought a 7 iron to test the performance. Should have it by the end of the week. I’ll post an update after some range time.

I found the 8º head to be a beast on amazing strikes but it could get a little knuckly. 9º worked better in the pgass sim for me but those bombs with the 8º are enticing....

My X came in today, but I got hurt from work yesterday. I'll see how I'm feel in a week or two, sucks! I wanna say the driver headcover is very good looking.

Oh that's the worst.  Wishing you a speedy recovery.   When my LS comes in a couple of weeks(backorder) I will probably have to shovel the snow off the ground to hit it but rest assured it is happening.

Considering the X for my 3 wood.

a true WRX club ho .   I imagine you adjusted the weights a bit to see if that helps?    I know it did with me. 

 

I want to like this driver, but so far I am underwhelmed.    It feels so fast but the LM numbers don't really bear that out for me which is odd.    I hate the stock shaft so I'm going to withhold final judgement until I can combine it with my preferred shaft.      Tbf, I don't expect it to be very forgiving but so far it isn't even going as far as my OG SIM.  TD blows it out of the water (OG TD that is.... AI Smoke TD on the way)

I am surprised at the lack of coverage or hype around this drop.  I was hoping to see more slant neck options in the 3D printed models shown today, but I wonder when we will get any kind of online reviews or feedback.  Looks like all of the PGA show stuff was focused on the woods.  

 

2/23 is a far way away - anyone know if they tend to ship out pre-orders sooner?

I did adjust the weights. I had more top end speed for sure, although maybe only 1-2mph ball speed. Spin came down a hair bit not as much as I was expecting TBH. TSR2 8° is truly a low spin head though

welp. it's done did. got amazing numbers out of the X version; spin, launch and ballspeeds were phenomenal even on miss hits. 

my paradym TD was getting beat up and it was time for the change. i will say - the X spun LESS than my TD on average, shaft for shaft. found that very interesting for me. 

...onto the 3w and hybrid trials...

I felt like ever since RAD XB the "standard" Cobra driver has been really good at managing spin and mishits. The LS gets a lot of hype and will get you a touch more ball speed, but I'm seeing really good numbers out of the X.

i REALLY wanted to like the LS - i got better swing speed numbers from it and marginally ball speed numbers but the mishits just were...NOT good. heel and toe threw my dispersion beyond what i'd consider acceptable and sometimes got knuckleballs that did very unpredictable things (think it's straight but missing left/right, falling out of the sky, etc).

I agree the X is going to be a great driver for a vast amount of golfers.
