PXG 0211 XCOR2

So, I was hitting some clubs for feel and shaft options and hit the Tour Edge E722 Vibracore with a KBS Tour 70 graphite shaft R flex.  The feel and performance for me was really good.  Was thinking that the PXG XCOR2 in a 65-70 gram graphite would work really good as well

Does anyone have any experience with the XCOR2?  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

They’re great irons for the money if the ridiculous lofts don’t bother you.

They are highly under-rated and very forgiving. Here is a long thread on them:

Here is a You Tube review also. There are more out there and all are pretty positive.

I have the 6-LW and love them. Have hit some of the best golf shots I have ever hit with them. I got the MMT 60 A flex. My fitting was great and I really loved the Mitsubishi MMT shaft the best. I also got the 0211 22 degree hybrid. Hit a couple of shots with it at my iron fitting and loved it. I previously played Ping G15. These are maybe not quite as forgiving but very close. And they feel great. I hit the Gen 5 0311 XF with the MMT shaft and the numbers were almost identicle. Fitter said looks like the 0211 Xcor 2 will be great for you. Have about 10 rounds on them now.

Here's a video of the PXG iron comparisons as well as comparing them against some others. As you will see the XCOR2's are as good or better than the others.

Exactly, and they play just as good if not better as well.

yours must be longer or something. I asked PXG online and this is his reply.

"The 0211 irons with the MMT 80 and STD grips, length would be around C9. We would likely need to add length or pick a grip that would being it up.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if I can draft up a quote for the 0211 irons for you. "

C9 is very light. I like mine at d2 minimum

Mine are standard XCOR2 length and lofts. My fitter told me that they will hand pick the heavier heads to accomodate the weight requested.

Any reason you wouldn't just go with the TEE E722?  They are usually available from the TEE CPO site for a significant discount vs new prices.

Actually, no.  I would need to hit them a little more but that would be easy at the PGASS.

Edit: Follow up.  They don't have the E722 but they have the E723.  With the Tensei AV Blue 65  #6-AW is $624 used.  The PXG Xcor2 with the Mitsubishi MMT same set up is about $450-$500 with discount new.

you're lucky, No fitters in my city and online help wasn't the best for fitting. I even asked for some shaft tip weight added and he wouldnt do that to increase swingweight

I have 28 rounds on my PXG XCOR2 irons in dark finish.  I play 4-L wedge with MMT 70 shafts in regular flex and I have a 13.1 handicap index. I’ve found the irons to be extremely forgiving but with a visibly smaller profile (which I like) than the Ping G425 irons I was playing previously. The dark finish is holding up very well, with exception of the sand wedge which I expected to wear due to bunker sand. For the price ($79 per iron with PXG Heroes pricing) and performance, I don’t think there’s better iron on the market. I like them even better than my PXG GEN 5 0311P irons.

Ditto here and I have played PXG since day 1, Gen 1 through Gen 5. Hit the G6's yesterday and numbers were pretty much the same as my XCOR2's. You just won't find a better iron than these, plain and simple.

I had a set with the dark finish. The dark finish is sick and it held up surprisingly well. The shape and look of the clubs is great. They were not all that different than the 0211Ps in size and shape. I could not overcome the strong lofts though. I had found that with some models of irons with stronger lofts, they didn't really play that much longer for me, especially in the short irons. But the XCOR2 were HOT off the face and I could never get the distances dialed in. The pitching wedge is basically a 9-iron, and it performed like one. I think you would have to be willing to back build an extra wedge or two to make the wedge gapping work, and I was not interested in doing that. I think the 0211P is a great club and I prefer it in every way, especially in feel. For two clubs that are similarly sized and shaped, they just played night and day different.

I have them in my bag and love them. My situation is pretty unique, and when I spoke with PXG by phone, the woman I started with was very thorough and knowledgeable. We spent about an hour going thru options, then she had one of her master builders call me back and we spoke for 45 minutes.

Great experience. They went the extra mile for me — grabbed the lightest heads on hand to help keep swing weight under control as one example, bent all the irons 1 degree weak because I need the extra bounce as another, talked me into a 7h instead of 7i as another.

The lofts are strong, but you have to put that out of your head and figure out is the carry distance and trajectory what you want? For some people it won’t work. For me, the answer is yes — the odd specs fit my situation very well.

I’ve had the Xtreme Dark since they were released and played some of the best golf of my life with them until July of this year when I benched them to build a set of Players Distance irons with graphite shafts. Well, I decided last week to throw them back in the bag for the fall and guess what, hitting them better then I was when I benched them and better then the set that replaced them. I know I shouldn’t ever take them out of the bag, but a Ho’s gotta do what a Ho’s gotta do 🥴😂.  The only thing I think I would change is to a graphite shaft and that will come at some point.

I play 4-LW Xcor2 with MMT80's.  Love them. Played Sub70 659CBs some this year, and while they are great irons I went back to the Xcor2.  Out of all the irons I have played over the years the 0211 Xcor2 are the most fun.  Just so easy to hit, and the combo of black heads with black MMT shafts looks so good.

Anyone else get some wonkiness with the 0211 XCOR2 lofts?

I bought a set of Xtreme Darks off of PXGs ebay store back in April.  I hit them on Trackman to do a gap test.  The 7i went the distance I expected for its loft.  The other irons seemed a hair on the short side and the 9i was barely going longer than the PW.

I had the lofts checked and the 7i was on spec, the 9i was 4* weak.. yes 4* which explained why it never went much longer than the PW and the rest of the set was 1-2* weaker than they should have been.  Luckily they gave me a refund but have been skeptical of ordering a PXG iron again.

I think every iron set I have bought needed the lofts and lies to be adjusted to the numbers I ordered.  It just seems that getting the lofts and lies right is something mfg's don't do well.  Also, the clubs from the ebay store would have been used and there is no telling what the previous owner did to the lies and lofts.

Why is it that buying an AFFORDABLE set of irons is so difficult.

That's funny that you say that and it is so true. I've been playing the 0311's from day 1 when PXG came out. Really liked them and have played / hit every generation. After reading and watching so many awesome reviews I had to try them. FOR ME, they are every bit as good as the 0311's and also TO ME. The black version is the best looking iron in the PXG line up.

All my golfing buddies ( including the ones that play PXG ) were like why would you down grade. Well let's just say that 2 of them have also switched from the 0311's to the XCOR2'S.

Its true...and like SEP1006, I've tried most of the PXG irons from Gen1-Gen4 and the XCOR2 Xtreme are better then all of them.  I put mine back in the bag last week and was able to play this past friday with a buddy that I play with 90% of the time when I play.  He said at some point on the back 9..."I don't know why you took those out of the bag, your ball striking with those is just the best golf you've played the last 5 yrs....but you gotta fix your driver".....LOL, if it wasn't for that I would be shooting 6-8 over every round.
