AoA on shots when I do this tends to be about -6°. Launch is typically around or just north of 60° depending on exactly what I'm trying to do, and spin is pretty low - this ball stops quickly via trajectory.

While watching some LPGA Tour coverage, I thought I'd quickly put together a list of the things the duo have gotten wrong. I'll throw in some straw men or other things, and this list will not be comprehensive.

Fact check: they almost never do this once they get far enough from the green that it's not a short shot. They aren't doing this from 90 yards, or 70. And they don't do this shot every time around the greens by any measure.

Tour players aren't as accurate from bunkers at any distance (despite having consistent bunker conditions week to week) as they are from the fairway where they often catch the ball cleanly. Proposing that hitting a shot "a few" inches behind the ball from turf is the crux of the disagreement, and a thing on which you're just simply wrong the vast majority of the time.

I've hit shots where the ball flies over my left shoulder because the face projects the ball in that direction, and i've hit shots where the ball hits the TOP of the clubhead with a positive AoA, flies less than a foot up with a launch angle in the 80° range, and lands six inches in front of where it sat.

 

I've even done some of these at 12,000 frames per second.

 

Also, as was pointed out, I love the fact that you've talked yourself into such a pretzel that "you can't even hit that shot" and "this lets you break even worst case because it's forgiving" are talking about the same shot.

Proposing that hitting a shot "a few" inches behind the ball from turf is the crux of the disagreement, and a thing on which you're just simply wrong the vast majority of the time.

Fact check: I can hit that shot, and just about any other shot you can imagine. I've hit shots where the ball flies over my left shoulder because the face projects the ball in that direction, and i've hit shots where the ball hits the TOP of the clubhead with a positive AoA, flies less than a foot up with a launch angle in the 80° range, and lands six inches in front of where it sat.

 

I've even done some of these at 12,000 frames per second.

 

Also, as was pointed out, I love the fact that you've talked yourself into such a pretzel that "you can't even hit that shot" and "this lets you break even worst case because it's forgiving" are talking about the same shot.

 

Okay, that was "fun."

You sound mad bro. 73% of the time par or better this year. I didn't shoot par until after college, didn't break 70 until I was 26, didn't get to a plus cap until 30 and have shot below 65 in tournaments 5x. Would you like a piece of those results? Not bad working full time.

 

Believe it or not when you break 65 twice in the same week and the majority of your other scores are under par you will drop to a +4. Some huge variance between +2 and +4 I'm not seeing?
