Golf Shoes

Recommended Posts

Guessing, I am on the older side, play 1–2 times per week, except golf trips I play every day to every other day.  I love to walk when possible too.  I have been wearing Sqairz for 3yrs, and just bought another pair.  Can't say the technology influences my scoring, but it does influence stability and comfort in all sorts of weather.

If you can find them, NIke air max 270Gs are the pinnacle of comfort.  Ive been through the premium end of Adidas, Nike, Footjoy & Ecco and the air Max's (for me) are by far the most comfortable and have a ton of cushioning as you would expect from Nike Airs.

Not sure they have them in their current line, but ive managed to pick up 3 spare pairs over the past year so im stocked for quite some time to come.

Everyone's feet are different, what is good for one person may not be as good for another...gotta try before you buy.

I went from riding to walking recently and my feet were dead after walking.  I find that spikeless are easier on my feet.  I have older Adidas 360 (spiked), Titleist Hyperflex Carbon (spiked), ECCO BIOM C4 (spikeless), CodeChaos (spikeless).

The most comfortable for me are the CodeChaos, followed by the ECCO.  I also replace the insert with a custom Orthotic.

For years I’ve been a Gfore MG4+ guy. I’ve had 4 or 5 different pairs

Decided to try something new and went with the Payntr X002 LE shoes.  I’ve only played a few rounds but have to say I’m very impressed

Out of curiosity, what's your take on G/Fores? I've been seeing them advertised for a while. I'm mostly am a big fan of Puma golf shoes, but G/Fore (while a bit more expensive than the norm) look absolutely fantastic, and the reviews almost all seem to be raves when it comes to comfort and wearability. General consensus seems to be that they are worth the price.

Shoes do mean a lot to me. I am a confirmed, lifetime walker. (Only do carts when I'm absolutely forced to). And as I get a bit older, the right shoes mean more and more. I can seriously tell the difference - after a round - between good shoes and badly made ones. (Average 18 hole round is about a 6 - 6.5 mile walk.)

Anyway, I ordered a pair this weekend, getting here Wednesday.

But I'm curious - seems like you really dug G/Fores - did you change because the Payntr X002 LE shoes are noticeably better, or because you just wanted to try something new to change things up (which I totally get)?

Been through lots of shoes, pretty much only own True Linkswear now, comfortable out of the box, excellent customer service, great selection of shoes.

Agreed! Talk with them about the type of show and width you need/like and the Trues have solid traction (all are spikeless , but a spiked show coming this year..) and are super comfy. I enjoy that most of them you can clean off and wear out as fancier sneakers and all of them even the waterproof ones breathe pretty well. Good luck finding what works best for you.

I've been wearin the G/FORE's since their introduction and have the the G/FORE Gallivanter Luxe in black and burgundy while Madison has a few of their Gallivanter spineless LE releases and loves em. Yah, you're gonna pay a lil more, though one, they're worth the price in my eyes, and secondly, if you're stuck on the price, look at another shoe, the G/FORE's aren't for you.

I also have the FJ Premier in a bunch of colors as I really liked these prior to G/FORE, though since a trip south to my Sis's in Orlando in January, I've been wearin the HOKA Tectonic X2 in 3 diff colors, with these pictured bein my fave and most worn(I've also gotta pair that I wear off the course). Madison has been a HOKA "Ambassador" since last year bout this time, as she was wearing the X2 since its introduction last April. She formerly was an Ecco Staffer, though much preferred/prefers the X2.

Anyhoo, the G/FORE is a great brand with superbly crafted high quality shoes, especially for those that want to have a traditional "old school" look to their shoe, which was key for me at the time, as the FJ Wilcox are in that same "traditional" category. Prior to G/FORE & the Wilcox, I was wearing the Allen Edmonds Honors Collection Heritage golf shoe, which most guy quit wearing a decade ago, lol.

Maddie and a few guys at the club have given me grief about doin a complete 180, goin from a traditional lookin golf shoe to not only a tennis shoe looking golf shoe, though literally a trail running🏃🏾‍♀️ shoe, lolol. Well, prior to my health issues, I had Game, was Playin Tourmeys, money games, etc., and style mattered. Fast forward to the present, following two strokes, numbness, neuropathy and uncontrollable spasms, my game is garbage and while my attire is still the same regarding my shirts & slacks, the "burning," tingling and numbness in my feet can emit a stabbing pain, and the HOKA Tectonic X2's are the most comfortable along with they provide excellent stability if I have a spasm mid-swing in my left leg, as it tends to slide, with the X2's proving excellent lateral stability!! Plus, they do look great with navy, black or charcoal slacks, the staple of my wardrobe, lol👖

Apologies for another friggin novella as you asked a simple question regarding G/FORE and the simple answer is yes, they're the real deal, yes, I would strongly recommend them however if someone is "price shopping," no, they're not for you🤷🏻‍♂️ Anymore than a Benz is for someone who is price shopping for a a vehicle. Now please, for those idiots amongst you,  I am by no means sayin to p!ss money away for the sake of a brand name!! Please bear in mind that while I do drive a luxury vehicle, I have never leased or purchased a new vehicle as in my mind, that is a waste of good money. I let the initial owner take the major depreciation hit, as a 2-3yo Benz, with the right owner, looks absolutely no different than a brand new Benz😉. I will never pay more than fair market value for ANY product, be it a motor vehicle or a pair of golf shoes. It is my opinion that the  G/FORE Gallivanter Luxe golf shoe is well worth its price and if that price gives someone pause, then it's a hard pass, as the Luxe are not for you. No harm no foul as there are superb golf shoes for half their price, just as their are superb vehicles for half the cost of a Benz!!

I started wearing NB court shoes for walking and work outs quite a few years ago. They just fit my feet well. They also held up well.

So, I tried a pair of NB golf shoes. Walked 9 day one with no issues.  They are not cushy by any means. Perhaps that why I like them. Regardless, not a single hot spot or pinch point. Many rounds walking and they are still feeling great and wearing well.
