He’s obviously not that talented and only good because of the extra long pause.

 

Just think, if I combine the Young pause with the Furyk backswing I can shoot 59 every time.

I've played nine holes in the past with a friend saying "good" when I got to the top of my backswing and waited for him to confirm something before I'd swing down. I hit it pretty well when I do that. 😉  (Not quite as far as normal, but otherwise generally pretty darn good.)

If only they realize it's not his pause but his right arm not folding as early in his backswing that's the better trait to emulate. Too bad most of them will just have narrow backswings while their playing partners take a nap as they start their downswing to hit it OB.

Not familiar with Mr. Young’s swing, but I take it that said swing may be interpreted (rightly or wrongly) as being contrary to some accepted wisdom, or perhaps a dicta of Mr. Scheinblum.

 

The question is, what if anything is happening during that pause?  It looks to my inexpert eye that there is a “late” move towards the target (recentering?) and the beginning of a general flexion of the body in the sagittal plane while the club head appears paused.
