I think you got this off the bay and this has an aftermarket job done on it? The next doesn't look like a machine offering. Could be wrong.

It was listed on the bay but we agreed on a price (and altering lie/loft/length) after the auction expired and I purchased it directly from him. The finish is definitely by the guy's company that sold it to me (he advertised that) and I absolutely love it at address. I don't know who did the chiseled neck but there is an "ART" stamping on the toe so maybe a one off. After getting it I did the heat shrink tube to get the matte black shaft and dyed the SS grip black with leather dye to black it out.

I wanted a lighter weight head (this one is about 340g), less than a full shaft offset plumbers (this is half shaft), and either no sight line or line on the top line in a dale head without paying for a(nother) custom so it was perfect for me. The softened top line and bumpers were a nice bonus. I'm gaming it now and it feels great but it'll be my backup/travel putter once I get a full custom I'm having made by another putter maker.

I have to agree with Lion on this...I am positive this isn't one of Dave's creations. I have heard rumours of guy doing customization (melon cuts, peening, stamping etc...) to mimic Dave's handy work. Dave's work is top notch, I don't think this makes the grade IMHO...plus the screws on the medallion look wrong too!

But...as long as you are happy with the putter thats all that matters!

The medallion screws are definitely off, but the neck looks legit (minus the aftermarket "scalloping") and I don't know of anyone else who makes a Dalehead type putter with a square opening for a neck so I'd say the head is a legit Machine with some aftermarket work.

Yeah, I already talked to him about the screws. He said it was his "mistake" and that he'd send a proper set but that hasn't come to fruition yet (if it ever will). As a backup/travel gamer for me I was more concerned about the specs I was fitted for (head style, head weight, L/L/L, neck style, offset, site line, etc) than the stamping. I knocked more than $200 off the bay listing price, paid < 40% off what my full custom is costing me (and I'm at ten weeks and three days on the wait but who's counting), and got a putter that's about 90% there on the specs. If the neck work and stamps aren't Dave's, so be it, I like the neck work (and finish) though the stamps I could do without. But I do appreciate the heads up.

Separate question, does anyone know if Dave can upgrade a Fixer to an Adjuster and if so, what the cost would be?

So just want to close the loop on this. I spoke to both Dave and the seller today. The head, neck, and medallion are authentic Machine, all work on those items was done by the seller. Dave took 20 mins out of his busy schedule to talk to me. I really appreciated it and I think it helped both of us. And I believe the seller and I have resolved the issue.

Thanks to the people here that brought this to my attention.

I am not surprised Dave took the time to talk to you...seems like a great guy!

I knew the putter was authentic, but I was pretty positive the aftermarket work was not done by Dave. Dave's work is top notch and I have seen some horrendous stuff done to perfect Machine's by some people...it's a real shame given how nice they are...hard to believe some people do what they do to them.

I am surprised that Dave would allow that kind of work to done to his putters...especially by a dealer...could easily be mistaken the poor quality of work...especially with all the time, effort, and money Dave has invested to build a company known for high quality work! I hope for Dave's sake he does something about this!

Stainless is one I've had a couple of years. Dave and his crew refinished it, and he talked me into the hand-torched carbon version also pictured here. Specs are identical, put the feel is a little different, so I have a backup or a slump-buster - whichever you prefer. Great putters!

Machine has some good stuff going on right now - all this work was done in the last couple of weeks, so he's definitely up and running, open for business.

I kind of want to do this as well, have a backup gamer with the same specs. I'm in Frisco, so not too far.

By far the coolest putter I own...

M10 Adjuster ART. Hand ground melon cuts. Dave's initials and year on the heel. Face stamps. Simply stunning. The craftsmanship is incredible!

What's the best way to order a machine these days? Ready to pull the trigger on my second putter from Dave.

I went thru a dealer. I would go with 303milled or Infamous Shank. Im sure there are others, but those are the 2 I am familiar with. g luck.

Thanks! I went with Jimmy at 303. Great communication so far. Much better than the last Machine I ordered in 2015.
