Congrats. Looks awesome! Love the face milling. The DH89 is awesome but when it's been softened (Tai treatment) might be the best looking putter in that headshape.

Probably your only chance of getting a damascus is to ask Byron to do a handmade and he prob still wouldn't do it. Pretty unlikely that he'll do anymore 89 damascus heads. I'll ask him though.

I feel like I've seen a few "stainless damascus" putter pop up on his puttertalk page. Are those one offs? Handmades?

He had 3 damascus B-17s made (if I remember correctly). Eddie's, one with a plumbers neck (pics up on PT) and one where the metal blew up on him... the layers started separating right where the neck would be welded on. It looked pretty strange... said he was going to do his best to salvage it, but wasn't sure if he could.

The face milling is what Byron calls #4 tuna. It's medium/deep milling and is the standard milling on most of his putters these days.

My Bombora and B-17. I picked bought the Bombora on eBay awhile back. It was an unfinished carbon head with some minor dings in it. Dropped it off with Byron the same day I picked up my B-17 and had him clean it up, refinish it and add the tuna stamps.

 

Both of these putters are phenomenal to putt with.

Greens were definitely the trickiest part of the day. Slower than I thought they would be, subtle breaks right before the cup, so I two putted almost every green. Had about 3 birdie putts left rather short when I’m usually pretty decent at lagging it. Pars and bogeys are my game since I don’t get a lot of practice time. But I was quite pleased with my overall score playing the 6624 yard green tees. I’ll take my 34 putts for an 80 and run.

Sounds like my club - slowish greens with cunning breaks. 34 putts for an 80 is more than acceptable mate! :-)
