Not in order......

Victory Ranch

Promontory - Nicklaus

Bethpage - Black

Princeville - Prince Course

Victory and Promontory are local clubs that are top notch. I have them above these other famous courses I have played.

TPC Sawgrass

PGA West - TPC Stadium - Nicklaus Private - Norman Resort

Chambers Bay

Doral - Blue Monster

Wynn

TPC Scottsdale

Callaway Rouge 9* Aldila Rogue Silver 44.5"

I tend to follow the course rankings each year. I have been fortunate enough to play a handful of them, but have been surprised that my experience and opinions haven't always matched up with their rankings. There is a lot of subjectivity here, so this should be fun for discussion purposes.

So for ease of discussion, list the top 5 courses you have played and list your most overrated course you have played.

Here are my top 5:

Pine Valley

Merion East

Whistling Straits

Doral

Blackwolf Run

I would say that Merion (based on it's high ranking) was the most disappoing of the five. Get my vote for most overrated.

1. Ocean course at Kiawah

2. Sage Valley

3. Eagle Point

4. TPC Boston

5. Belgrade Lakes

1. Old MacDonald (Bandon Dunes)

2. Turnberry

3. Carnoustie (Championship Course)

4. Royal Dornoch

5. St. Andrews (Old Course) most over-rated in terms of the course itself, but not in terms of the history associated with it. Always a throng of bystanders to watch you tee off on the 1st (which even given the wide fairway is a bit nerve racking) and finish on the 18th.

Shadow Creek

Oakmont

Pebble Beach

Pinehurst #2

Bethpage Black

Didn't include biggest letdowns. These are my personal favorites I've played. Played Bethpage Black about three weeks prior to the Barclays being held there in an MGA tournament. Course was in unbelievable condition and all of the grandstands were setup, really cool experience

Arcadia Bluffs

Troon North

Torrey Pines

Gold Canyon

Eagle Eye

These are not necessarily the most prestigious in the world, but they're courses I enjoyed playing the most. I played Arcadia Bluffs in September on a perfect 70 degrees sunny calm day, and I think it would rival any course in the world with those conditions. It was spectacular.

Royal Dornoch, then any 4 from:

Nairn, Cruden Bay, Murcar, Royal Aberdeen, Carnoustie, Monifeith, St Andrews New, North Berwick,, Royal St George's, Royal Cinque Ports, Perranporth, Southerness, Prestwick, Royal Troon, Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes, Machrihanish.

I think I see a trend here......

Hardest: Royal Troon

Most fun: Perranporth

Most underrated: Southerness

Most overrated: Gleneagles

Wade Hampton over Shadow Creek for me ... but SC is excellent. Wade Hampton just flows and is set so well!

Wade is just so perfect. The holes are built so perfectly into the property. Not only is every hole like a magazine cover, it's in perfect condition, and has an amazing variety of risks and rewards.
