Who has had a hole in one?

Recommended Posts

I play with a 75yr old guy who can reaaaaaly play. he's a former scratch+ golfer who's average score is 77. The only reason he's a 4hc is because he plays shorter tees with an easier CR. He's had 7 and I believe him.

Most guys who say they've had that many......I think they may be full of EET......but it's possible.

I simply don't understand how people rack up holes in one. I play the majority of my rounds on a par 3 course, have played it around 100 times in the past year, 0 aces confirmed; I might have made one during a practice game when I hit 5 or 6 balls on one hole, ball was in the cup, but no idea if that was the shot or if it was a deflection.

The only hole in one I have came when playing as a single...didn't see it go in the hole myself and no witnesses...really? REALLY??

No double eagles, though I did witness one on a par 4 once.

Beth has some of her's on the par 3. She actually tries to downplay some of them because she says, "well, you get 18 chances. Something's bound to go in eventually."

Next time you see her out there ask how many she's up to now.

I've had three...first one at 13 years old, second one at 30 at Forrest Greens in Va., third at my home course Virginia Oaks last year at 46. Quite a few tap in and lip outs as well, hole in one usually requires a great swng and a bit of luck as well.

2 hole in ones, the first was when I was 10 and basically skulled a shot from ~80 yards on the first hole of a tournament at a par 3 course.
Second was just this last summer, 221, slight breeze, back pin, bunker short, water left. I hit the exact shot I wanted, purest high draw 4 iron ever, landed just over the bunker and released ~15 feet right into the hole. Perfect!

I've got two albatrosses and one hole in one. After I got the hole in one, later that year I hit the flag once and lipped out once on the same hole.

The two albatrosses were on the same hole, same week. It was a short par 5 that I played a combined 10 under par in one week (albatross, birdie, albatross, eagle, birdie).

I've got 1 but earlier in that same round I lipped out for another one. Made a 1,2,3 and 4 on the par-3's that day.

Have a buddy who took his wife out to play after a few lessons. He'd never had one, so when she made one on the fifth hole, he was jumping up and down going crazy. She said, "What? That's where you told me to hit it." She was kind of a b!tch like that. She never played again. They got divorced.

I have an albatross hole in one. It was a 270-yard. uphill par 4 with a heavily guarded green. The hole usually plays around 250 though and with a bit of a dogleg, it isn't even that long.

I was playing my first full season, had a 24 or so handicap at the time and a 13-degree Nike Sumo 5000 diver, with stock regular shaft. The driver was perfect for the hole as it was long enough for me to carry to the green but as it hit so high, it had very little roll and I could actually stick it to the green. I had birdied the hole twice out of the last three occasions so I was feeling good about it.

So, I wait for the green to clear, hit a great drive and see ball bounce on the green but then it disappeared (usually you can see the ball from the tee box if it comes to rest on the green). Walking up towards the green I still can't see the ball so I'm convinced the ball went over the green and I'm already thinking about going back to hit another one if it's lost (there's a steep downhill and bushes behind the green after a small patch of rough). I was playing with a visitor on that day and he said "check the cup along the way" as I was heading to the back of the green. And to my amazement, there it was, in the hole. I was very much dumb founded and was actually thinking "I should be celebrating right now".

To be honest, it was a great feeling to do that and be a bit of a celebrity at the course for the rest of the summer but it was just one very good shot that got lucky, I'm much more proud of my first eagle which required a good drive, pretty much a perfect 3-wood to the middle of the green and a good putt.

The albatross was in 2009, the eagle in 2010 and I haven't had either since.

Six. Longest 231 Shortest 112. Made an ace in a Four Ball Match Play event Memorial Day Weekend on the fifth hole. To which my partner replied "Great now we are only three down." Gotta love the Big Show.

1 hole in one. Played HS and college golf and never really came close. At age 34 while playing with my dad, hit a 3 iron on a 210 yd par 3 that never left the flag. I saw it land but did not see it go in the hole. Got to the green and found my ball mark about 10 feet short of the hole but did not see a ball on the green. Walked up to the hole and peeked over the lip, and there it was. During the same round, I missed another one on a 152 yd hole by about 4 inches.

40 years of playing, no HIO's or DblEagles.

Taught my son how to play, and a HIO came in his 3rd week on the course!! He has been hooked ever since!

What a game!

Never had one but a broken flag denied me one day. 161 yard with a punchbowl green, when the pin is in the centre a good 8 iron onto the top bank will always role down to pin level. This day i hit the perfect shot and it was rolling at a good pace towards the hole and then it just stopped, walked down and the ball was wedged between the pin and the edge of the cup, moved the pin but the ball didn't drop.
Worst thing was, we were playing 2 days beforehand and that pin was broken then. It was fixed straight away.

I've been fortunate enough to have had 4 aces. Three were on the same hole (15th at Glacier Greens in BC). All four were approx 150 yds with an 8-iron. I just missed an albatross in Colorado once. I took a big chunk of the hole out with my second shot, the ball went in the hole and bounced out to three inches for a tap-in eagle.

2....

The first was a 175 yard par 3 tucked behind a bunker and all three of us hit very good shots. As we approach the green we see one 2 feet away, one just off the back, and I say mine is in the hole and sure enough it was my first. I was playing with my father in law and my boss. They got me for steaks and drinks at the nearest Black Angus.

The second was 81 yard par 3 with a island green. It was a cool winter morning and my usual group has a steak and lobster rule for any hole in one. They all cancelled staying it was to cold and i had fun calling them all and letting them know i was taking my wife to dinner.

Cant wait for my third.

My youngest son, Jace (at 6 yr/old) had a hole in one! Hit from the ladies tees, it was 67 yards and he used a 7 iron. We watched the ball roll on the green and then drop in the hole. We looked at each other and then looked back at the hole to make sure what we saw was real...and then started jumping around hugging and slapping "high fives". I was yelling "my 6 yr old just made a hole in one!" Some others came over and I was explaining what happened and I start to cry! Attached is a pic of him pulling the ball out of the cup. You can also see in my profile picture, him holding the ball. We wrote the date and all the info on the ball and have it in a shadow box with the club he hit it with. I will never forget that day...

I have never come close... : )
