Titleist 975 L-FF Anyone Hit One????

Never saw the "LFF" model. They made an "LFE" model that was a good stick. The "L-FE" stood for "Fade Enhancing" and the head was toe-weighted.

I had the LFE. Fade bias for sure. It was slightly larger than 975-J I had. I believe the LFE was 350cc.

Wait, WAIT. The FE stands for Fade Enhancing? I was told it was for Final Edition, as the last available iteration of the 975. It was the first "real, brand-name" club I bought, as a high school graduation present to myself. I normally draw the ball, and completely f'ed up my swing for 2 years as I tried to work this POS from right to left but couldn't do it. I sold it to a friend who can kill the damn thing, and bought a 983k. I wish I knew this 7 years ago.

From what I remember, the marketing was pretty clear. J.VS was a neutral driver, L-FE was mildly fade biased. Certainly not enough to screw with your swing, worst case, if you were previously hitting a draw, would a smaller draw or even straight. The tech didn't exist to move discretionary weight the way TM and Callaway have done since, especially with the bore-thru. Long story short, it wasn't the club...

The J was neutral, JVS had a draw bias and LFE a fade bias. That's all according to Titleist literature.

I own 3 of the LFF's 2 7.5's and an 8.5, and there is NO comparasion between the LFF and the LFE. The LFF does have a forged face and was extremely expensive to make, one big reason it never went retail. The LFF is one of the best tour issue drivers ive ever hit and i have owned alot. The head is as solid as it comes and the 360 head is extremely long. I played this driver from 2004 until the summer of 2009. You got a great buy for $40. If you dont mind the 360cc head you cannot find a better driver.

I saw a few posters talked about duval playing this driver and he very well may have but the Titleist driver he played for a long time was the very rare 975 EFS, which I have an 8.5 and it is right between the 975D and 975J. tall face and alot of roll and bulge. But it was another beast of a driver from Titleist, that is a shame never went to retail.

I just got a 7.5* head on Ebay 2 weeks ago as an experiment and had it shafted w/ a Grafalloy Blue 75S that I had around. I was initially concerned that I wouldn't be able to launch it, but it was not an issue at all. After hitting some balls on the range, I played 18-holes and hit some really solid drives.

My typical drives with my old driver(Ping Rapture 9) are mid trajectory, straight to fade, depends on the day. With the 975L-FF, the trajetory is about the same, but if I don't put a good swing on it, it will tend to exaggerate the fade or slight pull. But overall, it is a very solid driver. My distances are about the same, as compared to my friends' drives. So good, that I snatched another one that was 8.5* in excellent condition for $17.99BIN!. I am thinking about putting a Diamana Blue on it.

I just picked up one of these(975L-FF) with a Harrison Pro X flex in it. Its a 9.5* and the shaft may be too much for me but cant wait to try it anyway...

<br>How much did you give for it? It is definitely one of the longest Titleist has ever put out.....

I went through 3 975 LFE drivers. The face was welded just behind the line when the face met the crown. It always buckled right at the weld. I showed the Titleist rep the first one I cracked and he rush ordered a new one and kept the cracked one for the R&D team. I love how it played, but I kept cracking the heads (this was back when I could literally swing out of my shoes and my max SS was 132mph. Oh to be 20 again.)

After the 3rd one, they sent me the 983E. I couldn't complain. loved that driver too.

Let the F*cker Fly! Great driver. One of the hottest at the time for sure. I haven't hit one in a couple years, but I remember it being really long.

EDIT: I remember seeing one of those sell for several hundred dollars on the bay. Definitely worth $40. Heck, PM me if you don't like it and I'll buy it from you.

That's hilarious! I wonder if the titleist guys ever thought of that acronym after naming it for mr Freddie funk.

I played a round with one a year or so back. It was a 7.5 degree L-FF head and I cant remember what shaft. The club originally belonged to Jeff Overton in his early college golfing days. The thing was scary good, could even rip it of the deck from a tight lie.

How was the distance compared to the drivers of today? Could it hold it's own?

I owned one of these that was built by Hotstix. Seems to me it had a Fuji 569 in it and it was one of the longest drivers I ever owned. Definitely not the same at the LFE which was a middle of the road kind of driver in terms of performance. Eventually got rid of it for a Taylormade 510 DF, Which was another great tour club.

Still own and play the R510 DF Proto from time to time, still in my opinion the nicest and longest most solid head TM ever made!

I know, I know!  This thread is beyond just “old”, but I had to post.
I'm trying to empty the bulk of my stash in the garage and have brought all of it out from the darkest corner and under the strangest of headcovers.   I found an L-FF AND and TM Deep Face 300 buried in the back.  As a putter guy, I have to wonder, “why do the true classic drivers just seem to become worth less and less with time, while an older “quality” putter can multiply?”  I’ll start a new thread and maybe share some

pix of what is showing itself as I sort thru the whole pile.
Have a great day!

simple answer; Driver technology changes and new drivers are more forgiving, faster etc so no one wants to play the older stuff as they will be giving up yardage putters are still able to get the ball in the hole and shapes of older blade style putters hasn't changed that much.

I have 3 L-FEs in mint condition. 7.5, 8.5 & 9.5. Still play them from time to time along with my 905R. Great sticks!
